An 88-year-old woman in the Czech Republic who had been declared dead by both paramedics and a coroner was found alive just moments before burial preparations were completed, according to local media reports, as reported by Fox News.

The incident occurred in the city of Pilsen, where the woman’s husband found her unresponsive in bed and immediately contacted emergency services. According to Czech outlet Blesk.cz, the husband told dispatchers, “She didn’t move, she didn’t breathe.”

Paramedics responded to the scene and pronounced the woman dead.

Following standard procedures, a coroner was dispatched to the apartment to confirm the death, which they did. Mortuary staff were then called to transport the woman’s body. As the undertakers prepared to move her into a coffin, the situation took a dramatic turn.

“The workers transferred her to the coffin, and when they were right here in the apartment in the hallway by the door, they found out she was alive,” the woman’s husband told Blesk.

An ambulance was immediately dispatched back to the apartment, and the woman was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. Her current medical condition has not been disclosed.

While the incident may sound highly unusual, it is a documented medical occurrence known as the “Lazarus Effect.”
