The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) released details about 19 criminal illegal immigrants arrested by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents in Los Angeles on June 7, amid an ongoing federal crackdown that has led to violent unrest in the city, as reported by Fox News.

The arrests, according to DHS, are part of a broader enforcement operation launched June 6 that resulted in hundreds of apprehensions. Many of those detained have been previously convicted of serious crimes, including second-degree murder, rape, and robbery.

DHS reports that ICE officers are now facing a 413% increase in assaults during the course of their enforcement duties, prompting concerns for officer safety and public order.

Among those arrested is Cuong Chanh Phan, a 49-year-old Vietnamese national convicted in 1994 of second-degree murder for his role in a gang-related shooting that left two teenagers dead and seven others injured at a high school graduation party in California.

DHS posted about the case on X, saying, “This criminal illegal alien is who Governor Newsom, Mayor Bass and the rioters in Los Angeles are trying to protect over U.S. citizens.”

ICE also arrested Cielo Vivar-Ubaldo, a previously deported Mexican national with convictions including unlawful sex with a minor and narcotics violations, as well as Jose Cristobal Hernandez-Buitron, a 43-year-old Peruvian convicted of robbery and sentenced to 10 years in prison.

Other individuals taken into custody include:

Julian Riveros-Cadavid, Colombian national with arrests for domestic battery, child endangerment, grand theft, narcotics violations, and assault with a deadly weapon.

Chrissahdah Tooy, Indonesian national with DUI and narcotics convictions.

Rolando Veneracion-Enriquez, Filipino national facing charges including sexual assault with force.

Jordan Mauricio Meza-Esquibel, Honduran national with domestic violence and drug trafficking convictions.

Jesus Alan Hernandez-Morales, Mexican national convicted of conspiracy to transport an illegal alien.

Delfino Aguilar-Martinez, accused of assault with a deadly weapon in Los Angeles.

Victor Mendoza-Aguilar, convicted in California for narcotics and assault charges.

Jose Gregorio Medranda Ortiz, Ecuadorian national tied to a cocaine trafficking conspiracy in Florida.

Francisco Sanchez-Arguello, arrested for grand theft and weapons possession.

Armando Ordaz, convicted of sexual battery and theft.

Lionel Sanchez-Laguna, with a criminal record that includes firearms violations and child cruelty.

Arturo Diaz-Perez, convicted for drug charges and carrying a controlled weapon.

Juan Antonio Flores-Felician, previously deported and convicted of burglary.

Felimon Alejo-Garcia, with a prior DUI conviction.

Diego Hernando Quinones-Alvarado, arrested for burglary and a previous DUI.

Russell Gomez-Dzul, arrested by Border Patrol for allegedly assaulting a federal officer.

In addition to illegal immigrants, ICE arrested several American citizens over the weekend for federal obstruction and assaulting officers during violent protests. Rioters were reported to have assaulted officers, slashed government vehicle tires, and defaced public buildings.

Riverside County Sheriff Chad Bianco publicly criticized California Governor Gavin Newsom for “encouraging” the unrest.

“They are trying to violently influence something by political action. That is everything that the Constitution stands against,” Bianco stated.

“Governor Newsom needs to put his phone down… he has encouraged this.”

In response to the escalating violence, the California National Guard has been called in to assist with security efforts. A DHS spokesperson confirmed the deployment and urged local politicians to de-escalate their rhetoric.

“Our ICE enforcement officers face a 413% increase in assaults against them as they are just trying to do their jobs,” the spokesperson said.

Tricia McLaughlin, Assistant Secretary at ICE, condemned rhetoric from several Democratic leaders, including House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries and Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass.

“This violence against ICE must end,” McLaughlin said, citing repeated comparisons to Nazis and the glorification of rioters as contributing factors to officer attacks.

ICE stated that the agency continues to arrest approximately 2,000 illegal immigrants per day nationwide and will not be deterred by activist-led violence.

Fox News Digital reported that both Governor Newsom and Mayor Bass were contacted for comment, but no response has been issued as of this writing.
