U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) is intensifying enforcement actions across the Los Angeles area and has no plans to scale back, according to Border Czar Tom Homan.

During an interview Monday night on Fox News with host Jesse Watters, Homan confirmed that ICE will maintain and expand its presence in the region, despite widespread protests and political opposition from California officials.

“Oh, ICE ain’t leaving,” Homan said. “Matter of fact, we’ve got over a hundred teams out today enforcing immigration law, and we’re going to flood the zone.”

Homan, who has served as the face of the administration’s immigration enforcement strategy, reiterated that sanctuary jurisdictions like Los Angeles will be a central focus for federal operations.

He emphasized that the agency is pursuing a long-term enforcement strategy aimed at targeting individuals who pose a threat to public safety and are in the country illegally.

“We’re going to be there tonight. We’re going to be there tomorrow,” he added.

“We’re going to be there every day in the next four years, arresting public safety threats and illegal aliens — and we’re not going to apologize for doing it.”

His remarks come days after unrest broke out in Los Angeles, where demonstrators set vehicles on fire and reportedly assaulted ICE officers in response to ongoing deportation operations.

The protests, some of which turned violent, have drawn national attention and criticism from state and local leaders including California Governor Gavin Newsom and Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass.

Homan addressed the challenges created by local non-cooperation policies, particularly in jurisdictions with sanctuary laws that prevent coordination between local law enforcement and federal immigration authorities.

“You don’t want us to arrest these bad guys … we could arrest them in the safety and security of the county jail,” Homan said.

“But they won’t let us in the jail. They release them into the community.”

As a result, Homan explained that ICE has been forced to conduct more field operations, deploying additional personnel to track individuals in public spaces and residential neighborhoods.

“Which means we gotta send a whole bunch of teams in the community, to find this dangerous person that don’t want to be found,” he said.

“So sanctuary cities are going to get exactly what they don’t want — more officers in the community,” Homan continued. “If we can’t find them there, we’ll go to their work sites.”

Homan’s comments align with those made by U.S. Attorney for the Central District of California, Bill Essayli, who stated during a separate interview with Fox News correspondent Bill Melugin that ICE operations would not be withdrawn from the area.

During his appearance on Jesse Watters Primetime, Homan also pointed to the 2024 presidential election, stating that voters returned President Donald Trump to office on the promise of restoring immigration enforcement.

Homan said that the administration remains committed to carrying out a large-scale repatriation effort in line with that mandate.

The Department of Homeland Security has not commented on the specific details of the ongoing ICE operations in Los Angeles, but internal sources have confirmed that dozens of additional enforcement teams have been activated for field operations throughout Southern California.

Local law enforcement agencies have acknowledged the protests and instances of violence that have occurred in recent days, but no official comment has been made regarding coordination with federal immigration authorities.

ICE continues to urge the public to report criminal activity and has reiterated its commitment to prioritizing cases involving individuals with criminal convictions or outstanding removal orders.
