Jonathan Turley Explains How Judges Blocking Trump Are ‘Undermining Their Decisions’

George Washington University law professor Jonathan Turley said Tuesday that federal judges blocking President Donald Trump’s policies are providing grounds for their rulings to be tossed out on appeal.

Federal district court judges have issued multiple nationwide injunctions against Trump administration policies ranging from addressing illegal immigration to defunding Harvard and shutting down some government agencies. Turley told “Fox and Friends” co-host Lawrence Jones that comments made by some judges during the hearings could “undermine” their rulings’ credibility. “In some cases, these judges are undermining their decisions,” Turley said. “Go back to the National Guard decision with Judge Breyer. You know, in the hearing right before the ‘No Kings’ protest, he referred to Trump as behaving like King George [III], and he said that and he ended up in the opinion, almost echoing some political talking points, saying that the president is creating essentially disorder by trying to bring order through the Guardsmen.”

“All that stuff tends to undermine the credibility of the court,” Turley continued.

The Supreme Court held a special oral argument session on May 15 focusing on the practice of nationwide injunctions blocking an executive order Trump issued regarding birthright citizenship when he took office Jan. 20.

Trump ordered 700 Marines to back up the earlier deployment of federalized National Guard troops on June 9 after riots began following illegal immigration raids in the city were conducted by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

Video posted to social media on June 7 showed an individual, who the FBI identified as Elpido Reyna in a subsequent post on X, throwing rocks at the windshields of vehicles containing federal law enforcement personnel with the FBI offering a $50,000 reward for information leading to his arrest.
