President Donald Trump pushed back Monday against reports suggesting his administration had entered into discussions with Iran or offered any form of concessions, as reported by The New York Post.

Trump stated that he had not communicated with the Iranian regime and denied any involvement in a deal to ease sanctions or support a civilian nuclear energy program.

The response followed a claim from Sen. Chris Coons (D-Del.), who alleged that the Trump administration was considering a proposal similar to the Obama-era Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), which included billions of dollars in financial relief for Iran.

“Tell phony Democrat Senator Chris Coons that I am not offering Iran ANYTHING, unlike Obama, who paid them $Billions under the stupid ‘road to a Nuclear Weapon JCPOA (which would now be expired!),’” Trump wrote in a post on Truth Social.

“Nor am I even talking to them since we totally OBLITERATED their Nuclear Facilities.”

Trump emphasized that recent military strikes against Iran had caused significant damage to the country’s nuclear infrastructure. “It was obliterated like nobody’s ever seen before,” he said in a Sunday interview with Fox News.

“And that meant the end to their nuclear ambitions, at least for a period of time.”

Last week, media outlets including CNN and the New York Times published reports citing a preliminary Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) assessment that cast doubt on the effectiveness of the U.S. strikes.

The report, labeled “low confidence,” claimed the Iranian nuclear program may have only been delayed by several months.

Trump dismissed the report and questioned the sources of the media coverage. He suggested compelling journalists to disclose who leaked the internal DIA assessment to the press.

The administration’s position remains that the strikes on three nuclear sites within Iran were effective in halting progress on Tehran’s nuclear development. The Pentagon has not issued an official public assessment confirming or disputing the intelligence leak reported by the press.

Trump has consistently criticized the JCPOA, which was brokered under the Obama administration and lifted sanctions in exchange for limitations on Iran’s nuclear program. The United States formally withdrew from the agreement in 2018 under Trump’s leadership.

At this time, there is no confirmation from U.S. officials that any new diplomatic discussions are underway with Iran, and the White House maintains that no offers or negotiations have taken place.
