Trump Gets Another Supreme Court Win in Support of Mass Deportation Plans [WATCH]

The U.S. Supreme Court on Thursday issued a ruling that strengthens President Donald Trump’s immigration enforcement authority, allowing the administration to move forward with deportations of illegal aliens to third countries.

In a 7-2 decision, the Court sided with the Trump Administration in a legal dispute over whether the federal government can deport noncitizens to countries other than their countries of origin.

The decision clarifies an earlier June 23 ruling and directly impacts eight illegal aliens currently held in U.S. custody on a military base in Djibouti.

Justice Elena Kagan joined the Court’s six conservative justices in the majority. Justices Sonia Sotomayor and Ketanji Brown Jackson dissented.

The unsigned order from the Court invalidates previous rulings issued by U.S. District Judge Brian Murphy, who had claimed the Trump Administration’s May 21 deportation flight violated his injunction.

Murphy argued that his original order blocking the deportations remained “in full force,” even after the Supreme Court had already stayed it.

“The May 21 remedial order cannot now be used to enforce an injunction that our stay rendered unenforceable,” the Supreme Court stated, making clear that Murphy’s subsequent attempts to block deportations were invalid.

Justice Kagan, who had previously dissented in the June ruling, explained her reasoning for siding with the majority in this case.

“But a majority of this Court saw things differently, and I do not see how a district court can compel compliance with an order that this Court has stayed,” she wrote.

The eight individuals affected by the ruling have remained in U.S. custody at a military facility in Djibouti since Judge Murphy’s injunction was first issued in May.

Federal authorities had maintained the deportation flight was lawful and carried out in compliance with the June 23 ruling.

The National Immigration Litigation Alliance, which represents the eight detainees, criticized the ruling and argued that the individuals face danger if removed.

“The Supreme Court’s order rewards the government for violating the preliminary injunction in this case and for delaying provision of the due process protections that the district court ordered, which included a determination on whether they had a reasonable fear of being persecuted or tortured there. All eight have such a fear,” the group said in a statement.

All eight individuals reportedly have serious criminal records, which the Trump Administration has cited as justification for prioritizing their deportation.

Thursday’s decision follows another major Supreme Court ruling just six days earlier that also bolstered Trump’s executive authority on immigration matters.

In that case, the Court limited the ability of lower federal courts to issue nationwide injunctions—broad legal orders that block executive actions across the entire country.

In that decision, the Court ruled that district judges overstepped the authority granted to them by Congress when issuing such sweeping orders.

The majority opinion was authored by Justice Amy Coney Barrett.

Justices Sotomayor, Kagan, and Jackson dissented.

The Supreme Court’s recent decision now places significant limits on that judicial tool, giving the White House more room to implement policies without immediate federal court intervention.
