Tensions ran high on Thursday’s episode of The View as co-hosts clashed over the recent surge in violence targeting federal immigration enforcement officers, following a series of attacks on Border Patrol and ICE facilities in Texas.
Alyssa Farah Griffin addressed the controversy surrounding the Trump administration’s renewed deportation operations and emphasized that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents are enforcing laws passed by Congress.
She urged those opposed to the policies to engage their elected officials rather than directing anger at law enforcement.

“If you have a problem with it, talk to your lawmaker, that’s the place to do it,” Griffin said.
“That’s also something we don’t want to see is an uptick in violence against law enforcement who are doing their jobs.”
Griffin referenced two recent attacks in Texas. The first occurred at a Border Patrol facility in McAllen, where a suspect opened fire on federal agents and was subsequently killed during the incident.
In a separate event, approximately twelve suspects ambushed an ICE detention facility in Texas.

According to law enforcement reports, the suspects lured officers outside before opening fire. One responding local officer was shot and is currently recovering.
Not all of Griffin’s fellow co-hosts shared her position.
Co-host Sunny Hostin took issue with how immigration enforcement is being carried out and raised concerns about how agents conduct their duties.
“If they would do their jobs the way that I think they should be doing their jobs, which is unmasked, without disappearing people from the streets, I don’t think that the public would feel as endangered,” Hostin said.
Her comment was met with applause from the audience. “Because if someone approaches my loved one who’s undocumented, with a mask, how do I know that they’re actually law enforcement…”
Hostin also said, “There will be a reckoning for some of the actions that law enforcement have done,” in reference to ongoing immigration enforcement operations.

The disagreement comes amid a sharp rise in violence directed at immigration enforcement personnel.
The Department of Homeland Security has increased security measures around federal immigration facilities and is working with local law enforcement to prevent further incidents.
ICE has reiterated that its agents operate under federal law and that all enforcement actions are conducted in accordance with U.S. immigration statutes.
Agency officials have stated that protective equipment, including face coverings and tactical gear, is standard in field operations and is not intended to obscure identities from the public.
Meanwhile, congressional debate over immigration enforcement and the future of border policy continues in Washington, as President Donald Trump’s administration maintains that current operations are essential to national security and the rule of law.
