A man armed with a knife was fatally stabbed with his own weapon after slashing another individual during a violent confrontation inside a Manhattan subway station, according to the New York Police Department, as reported by The New York Post.
The incident took place shortly after 7:00 p.m. on Saturday at the 14th Street subway station in Chelsea. Police said a 24-year-old man and his friend became involved in a verbal dispute with another male, who then pulled out a knife during the argument.
The suspect slashed the 24-year-old in the lower torso before fleeing through the station’s mezzanine level. The injured man and his friend pursued the attacker, eventually catching up to him.

According to police sources, they managed to wrestle the knife away from the suspect, and one of the men used the blade to stab the original attacker in the chest.
Emergency responders transported both the initial attacker and the 24-year-old victim to Bellevue Hospital. The knife-wielding suspect was later pronounced dead at the hospital. The 24-year-old man remains in stable condition, according to authorities.

As of Sunday, two individuals were taken into custody, though no charges had been filed. The NYPD stated that the investigation remains ongoing, and the identities of those involved have not been released.
The NYPD has not yet commented on whether the incident may qualify as self-defense or if criminal charges will be considered against those who confronted the attacker. Surveillance footage from inside the station is being reviewed as part of the ongoing investigation.

The 14th Street station is a major transit hub in Manhattan and serves several subway lines, including the A, C, E, L, and 1, 2, 3 trains. The incident briefly disrupted evening service while officers secured the scene and conducted preliminary inquiries.
