President Donald Trump weighed in Tuesday on former Vice President Kamala Harris’ announcement that she will not run for California governor in 2026, instead suggesting that her political future remains uncertain, as reported by The Gateway Pundit.
Speaking after signing an executive order reestablishing the President’s Council on Sports, Fitness, and Nutrition, Trump criticized Harris’ political skills and campaign performance during the 2024 election cycle.
“She can’t speak, she can’t talk, she can’t do an interview,” Trump said when asked by a reporter about Harris’ decision.
“I thought she was a terrible candidate.”

Trump revisited the unusual circumstances surrounding the 2024 presidential race, in which the Democratic Party replaced Joe Biden with Harris less than four months before Election Day.
“She didn’t really get the nomination. That whole nomination was strange,” Trump remarked. “She was the first one out” during the primaries, he added, pointing out how her support plummeted after voters became more familiar with her.
The former vice president announced last week that she will not enter the race to replace California Governor Gavin Newsom, who is term-limited. The decision has led to speculation about whether she intends to make another bid for the presidency.

Harris also announced the release of her upcoming memoir, titled 107 Days, which is scheduled for publication on September 23. The book claims to offer a detailed account of her final months in office and her campaign for the White House.
Trump responded to a question about the book with humor: “I think I’m going to buy it. I’d love to see it—no. Look, I find everything in politics interesting.”

Continuing his criticism, Trump noted Harris’ limited media engagement during the campaign.
“She didn’t do any interviews or anything, which was strange, not even friendly interviews with friendly reporters like her, right there,” Trump said, pointing to ABC’s Rachel Scott. He said voters began to question her absence from the media as the election drew near.
“She didn’t run a great campaign,” Trump said. “We beat Biden, and then we had to beat—nobody’s beaten two. I had to beat two.”

Reflecting on the Democratic ticket switch, Trump likened it to a last-minute substitution in a UFC match. “It didn’t seem fair to me at the time,” he said. “But where are we? We’re in the White House. So, I mean, you know, it worked out.”
