A Cincinnati city official is facing growing criticism after she defended her controversial comments regarding a violent mob attack caught on video in downtown Cincinnati, as reported by The Blaze.

City Council President Pro Tem Victoria Parks, who previously stated that the victims “begged for that beat down,” reiterated her stance during a video interview released Friday and has refused to resign from her position.

The assault, which occurred in July 2025, involved a man and a woman identified only as Holly. Video footage showed Holly being punched in the face by a male assailant after she appeared to intervene in the confrontation.

She was knocked unconscious, and later appeared in a tearful video expressing gratitude for public support.

“Thank you for all of the love and support,” Holly said in her message shared with WLWT-TV. “It’s definitely what’s keeping me going… I still have very bad brain trauma.”

Holly has been in hiding since the vicious mob attack in Cincinnati.

This is her first message on camera.

Ohio U.S. Senate candidate Bernie Moreno shared graphic images of Holly’s injuries, writing on X, “This is Holly. She wanted to have a nice evening out with friends. Instead, she got this.”

Ohio gubernatorial candidate Vivek Ramaswamy also posted a disturbing close-up of Holly’s face after the incident and criticized the lack of accountability.

Video of the incident shows a man being attacked, with Holly attempting to assist. She was struck by another woman before a male punched her directly in the face, knocking her to the pavement. Several bystanders later assisted her.

In her interview, Parks defended her previous social media comments.

“I don’t celebrate the fact that he got beat up. But I also understand why he got beat up. And I believe he does, too.”

She further added, “It seemed to me that he was looking for trouble, and so he got trouble.”

When asked if she was advocating violence, Parks denied it but invoked racial context.

“You never start a fight with a white person. But if they hit you first, that becomes a reason for all of the frustration and hurt and terror… of generations, historical generational pain, to be released. And I believe that’s what happened.”

Other city officials pushed back against Parks’ statements. Councilmember Meeka Owens told WLWT that “endorsing violence is neither effective nor responsible,” and that Parks’ views do not reflect the opinions of the council.

Parks previously announced in January that she would not seek re-election. Owens added in an interview with NewsNation that Parks should consider resignation over her comments.

BlazeTV host Jason Whitlock also condemned the attack, calling it “completely unjustified.” Contributor Shemeka Michelle echoed that sentiment, pointing out the involvement of both male and female participants in the assault.

Whitlock later posted to X,

“The anti-white bigotry at the root of this behavior must be addressed. Sickening.”

As the investigation into the attack continues, the debate over the city’s response and leadership remains active.
