A Harris County constable deputy is facing scrutiny after a TikTok post went viral suggesting she planned to issue tickets indiscriminately because of a lack of intimacy in her personal life, as reported by The New York Post.

The post, made by Harris County Precinct 5 Deputy Jennifer Escalera, has sparked public backlash and prompted an internal affairs investigation.

The video, which has since been deleted, showed Deputy Escalera in uniform writing on a notepad.

The caption over the clip read, “Didn’t get cracked last night so everyone is getting a ticket,” suggesting that her ticketing decisions might be influenced by her personal frustrations. Although parts of her uniform were blurred, Escalera’s name tag remained visible in the footage.

In response, the Harris County Precinct 5 Constable’s Office issued a brief statement. “Our administration is aware and internal affairs has opened an investigation. We have no other comment at this time,” the office told Fox 26 Houston.

Escalera, who joined the department in September 2021, has a visible presence on TikTok, where she regularly posts videos in uniform. Her account also includes content about being a mother, as well as other personal musings related to her life and work.

One of her more widely circulated videos showed her preparing for work as a police officer, with on-screen text stating, “contemplating if I really need this job, knowing that I do.”

Local residents expressed frustration and concern over Escalera’s social media content. Speaking to Fox 26, resident Alex Fitch said,

“I think it’s really inappropriate and disrespectful. Not as much distrust, but you can’t rely on them. It makes them look unprofessional when they start posting videos like that. You can’t take them seriously.”

Fitch added, “Then they wonder why, when you see them, they say, ‘Why don’t you respect me?’ or, ‘Why are you talking to me like that?’ Well, you don’t treat yourself like a woman, and you ain’t treating yourself like a police officer.”

The constable’s office has not provided a timeline for when the investigation into Escalera’s conduct will be completed.

Meanwhile, the video continues to circulate on social media, raising questions about officer professionalism and the impact of personal content shared from official uniforms.

As of now, Deputy Escalera remains employed with the department, pending the outcome of the internal review.
