President Donald Trump launched sharp criticism at former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie on Sunday, accusing him of “criminal acts” and suggesting the former governor could be a future target of a raid.

Trump’s comments came after Christie appeared on ABC’s This Week with George Stephanopoulos, where he criticized Trump’s reaction to the FBI raid of former National Security Advisor John Bolton’s Maryland home.

“I just watched Sloppy Chris Christie be interviewed on a ratings challenged ‘News’ Show, This Week With George Slopadopolus, on ABC Fake News,” Trump said.

“Can anyone believe anything that Sloppy Chris says?”

The president then referenced the 2013 Bridgegate scandal, in which Christie’s top aides orchestrated lane closures on the George Washington Bridge as political retribution against a local mayor.

The incident caused days of traffic gridlock and became a central issue in Christie’s later political downfall.

“Do you remember the way he lied about the dangerous and deadly closure of the George Washington Bridge in order to stay out of prison, at the same time sacrificing people who worked for him, including a young mother, who spent years trying to fight off the vicious charges against her,” Trump wrote.

“Chris refused to take responsibility for these criminal acts,” he added.

“For the sake of JUSTICE, perhaps we should start looking at that very serious situation again? NO ONE IS ABOVE THE LAW!”

During his television appearance, Christie argued that Trump was applying double standards in his criticism of Bolton’s handling of classified information.

“I think it’s kind of funny to hear the president talk the way he does about Bolton and classified information, yet when he had classified information, the same rules didn’t apply,” Christie said.

Christie also dismissed claims tied to the Ghislaine Maxwell deposition, stating that while he did not believe Trump was implicated in wrongdoing, he remained skeptical of the credibility of documents tied to her and the late financier Jeffrey Epstein.

The FBI raid on Bolton’s Bethesda, Maryland home began at 7:00 a.m. Friday.

A source told the New York Post that the raid was ordered by FBI Director Kash Patel and tied to an investigation into Bolton’s alleged handling of classified national security documents.

According to investigators, Bolton is suspected of sending sensitive documents from his government email account to his wife and daughter shortly before he was fired in September 2019.

The probe reportedly began during Trump’s presidency, continued after he left office, but was paused during the Biden-Harris administration.

Patel appeared to reference the raid in a Friday post on X, writing: “NO ONE is above the law… @FBI agents on mission.”

Throughout the raid, federal agents were seen carrying boxes of material out of Bolton’s residence. Additional agents searched his Washington, D.C. office.

Bolton’s wife, Gretchen Smith Bolton, was photographed at the home’s front door speaking with agents before retreating inside.

Bolton later returned home Friday evening, briefly waving to cameras but declining to comment.

Speaking from the Oval Office, Trump compared the raid to the FBI search of his Mar-a-Lago estate in 2022.

“My house was raided also… So I know the feeling. It’s not a good feeling,” Trump said.

“I purposely don’t want to really get involved in it. I’m not a fan of John Bolton.”

Protesters gathered outside Bolton’s residence during the raid, including demonstrators from the anti-Trump group #NoKings.

One protester held a sign that read, “Trump uses FBI for vengeance.”

The raid on Bolton’s home has drawn comparisons to the 2016 investigation into Hillary Clinton’s use of a private email server while serving as Secretary of State.

That controversy overshadowed her presidential campaign and led to an FBI review of her handling of classified information.

The investigation into Bolton and Trump’s subsequent comments about Christie highlight deepening tensions within the Republican Party, as well as ongoing scrutiny of how former officials handled classified material during and after their time in government.
