Michigan Doctor Charged After Disgusting Request to 5-Year-Old’s Mother

A Michigan physician has been arrested in a sting operation after allegedly pursuing what he thought was a mother online and asking if he could engage in a sexual relationship with her 5-year-old daughter, authorities confirmed Wednesday, as reported by The New York Post.

Dr. William Murdoch was taken into custody by U.S. Marshals following the undercover operation. According to the Port St. Lucie Police Department, the sting involved an officer posing as a mother who struck up what Murdoch believed to be a platonic online relationship.

Investigators said Murdoch’s intent was to determine if the woman would allow him to “court” her child.

Authorities reported that explicit and disturbing messages were exchanged during the investigation, in which Murdoch detailed how he planned to groom the child and “turn the situation sexual.”

Police described the contents of the messages as “stomach churning,” noting that they were too graphic to be fully released to the public.

A forensic review of Murdoch’s iCloud and messaging accounts uncovered additional communications that investigators said revealed even more concerning activity.

According to police, the conversations included references to “conception, full term abortions, and intentional drug and alcohol use to cause birth defects.” Officials also noted that Murdoch’s medical training appeared to aid him in these alleged pursuits on the dark web.

A warrant was issued for Murdoch’s arrest, and he was charged with soliciting a parent to consent to the participation of sexual conduct involving a child. Authorities confirmed that he will be extradited to Florida to face prosecution.

Murdoch is listed in records as the associate director for family medicine and a resident at Monroe Regional Hospital in Monroe, Michigan. The hospital is part of the ProMedica health system.

In a statement to CBS News, ProMedica said Murdoch’s arrest “triggered an immediate suspension of Dr. Murdoch’s hospital privileges and a termination of all activity involving the physician.”

The Port St. Lucie Police Department emphasized that the case highlights the importance of undercover operations in identifying and removing potential threats to children. Officials said the investigation remains ongoing as forensic teams continue to review Murdoch’s digital communications.
