President Donald Trump announced on Monday that he is donating his family Bible to the Museum of the Bible in Washington, D.C.
Just prior to the Religious Liberty Commission’s hearing, Trump donated the Bible given to him by his mother, Mary Anne MacLeod, and said it is an “honor” to display his family artifact at the museum. The president noted that the Bible is an integral part of the “American story” and is one that shaped “millions of lives” for thousands of years.
“For thousands of years, the Bible has shaped civilization, ethics, art and literature and it’s brought hope, healing and transformation unto millions and millions of lives. The Bible is also an important part of the American story, that’s why I’m delighted to announce that just moments ago I personally delivered the Trump Family Bible given to me by my mother. I remember the time she gave it to me. But it was used in both my inaugurations and also display it at the museum and I guess it will now be displayed right in the heart of our nation’s capital and that’s an honor.” (RELATED: Trump Names Bishop Who Banned Pelosi From Communion To Religious Liberty Commission)

Trump also announced that the Department of Education has received new guidance to protect prayer in public schools and said he would “protect the Judeo-Christian values of our founding.” He also lamented the push for gender ideology in schools and the treatment of some religious students when they said a prayer in the classroom.
“To have a great nation, you have to have religion – I believe that so strongly,” Trump said. “There has to be something after we go through all of this, and that something is God.”
The president has been a strong proponent of protecting religious expression and liberty, and has been a supporter of allowing school prayer since his first term. He passed new guidance in July which expanded religious protections for federal employees, including the display of religious items and to pray in groups during off-duty hours.
The Department of Justice (DOJ) launched a task force to “eliminate” anti-Christian bias and opened an investigation into a law in the state of Washington that forces Catholic priests to disclose information received in the confessional related to child abuse or neglect.
