Former MSNBC anchor Joy Reid is facing backlash after posting a video of herself drinking wine and applauding a musician performing a song that justified the assassination of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk, as reported by Breitbart.

The video, shared on social media, shows Reid staring at her laptop while the singer delivers politically charged lyrics.

The musician referred to Vice President J.D. Vance as a “fascist” and justified Kirk’s killing, saying, “When your policy is lined with disregard for human life, you cannot be surprised when things like this occur.”

The song concluded with the words, “There’s a fascist on Air Force Two.”

Reid captioned the clip with, “Well said, young man,” appearing to endorse the performance.

This Could Be the Most Important Video Gun Owners Watch All Year

Kirk, a prominent conservative activist, was shot and killed last Wednesday while speaking at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah. His death prompted vigils across the country and an outpouring of grief from supporters and students involved in his organization.

Turning Point USA has reported a surge in interest from students in the wake of Kirk’s death.

“As of this afternoon, in the past 6 days, TPUSA has received 54,000+ requests from high school and college students nationwide to start a chapter or get involved with an existing chapter,” the organization said in a statement. “This is just the beginning.”

Reid, who left MSNBC in 2024 after a series of controversies, has remained active online. Her post adds to a growing wave of criticism surrounding left-leaning figures who have been accused of downplaying or even celebrating Kirk’s assassination.

The video comes at a time when lawmakers from both parties have condemned political violence.

However, Reid’s decision to publicly praise a song that explicitly ties Kirk’s killing to his political positions is likely to add to scrutiny of the media’s handling of the incident and its aftermath.

President Donald Trump and Vice President J.D. Vance have both denounced the assassination, with the administration pledging to investigate potential networks behind the attack.

Meanwhile, Turning Point USA has vowed to carry forward Kirk’s mission by expanding its footprint on campuses nationwide.

Kirk’s funeral arrangements have not yet been publicly announced, but tributes and vigils continue in Utah and across the country.
