A televised interview between British broadcaster Piers Morgan and former CNN anchor Don Lemon escalated into a fiery exchange this week, with Morgan accusing Lemon of “being a complete d**k” after the conversation turned to Lemon’s firing from CNN in 2023, as reported by The New York Post.
The clash began when Morgan played a clip of Lemon’s controversial remarks about then-GOP presidential candidate Nikki Haley not being “in her prime.”
The comments, which drew sharp criticism at the time, were among the issues that preceded Lemon’s abrupt exit from the network.
Lemon grew visibly frustrated, arguing that he had agreed to appear to discuss freedom of speech in relation to the assassination of Charlie Kirk, not his dismissal from CNN.
“Let’s just be crystal clear about what’s just happened,” Morgan said. “You brought up the subject of cancel culture. I asked you, ‘Did you feel your departure from CNN was an example of that?’ and you answered the question.”
As the two men talked over each other, Morgan pressed further. “What are you talking about?! I think you’re being a complete d**k, if I’m honest with you,” Morgan said. Lemon responded sarcastically: “OK, well that’s very kind and respectful of you.”
Don Lemon becomes visibly enraged as Piers Morgan rolls the very clip that got him fired from CNN.
“Not once did you mention that we were gonna talk about CNN or whatever. And had I known that, I probably wouldn’t have accepted this interview.”

The exchange quickly spiraled as Lemon accused Morgan of lacking professionalism. “You’re not a respectful journalist and host,” Lemon charged. Morgan fired back, “I don’t think I’ll take lectures on being a respectful journalist from you, Don. I won’t!”
Morgan questioned why Lemon reacted so strongly. “I don’t know why you’ve gone on this weird rant. I don’t understand any of it. Why have you done this weird reaction?” he asked.
Lemon insisted that the 2023 remarks about Haley “had nothing to do with me leaving CNN” and argued that his comments had been taken “out of context.”

The tense interview came just weeks after Lemon faced another confrontation, this time with a passerby in New York City while filming a segment for his podcast. In that exchange, the man told Lemon he was “full of sh*t” within seconds of Lemon introducing himself.
“You’re a f**king moron, dude,” the man added, before accusing CNN and MSNBC of lying about “genocide” in Gaza and “all wars.”
When Lemon asked why he would say such things, the man shrugged: “Because it just comes out, man. Because you’re big and think you’re something.”
The heated incidents underscore the continued controversy surrounding Lemon following his departure from CNN, where he spent 17 years before being dismissed last spring.
