Despite What They Say, Anti-Gun Politicians Don’t Take ‘Gun Crime’ Seriously

On Monday, Cam talked about how a gun control supporter shot up an ABC affiliate in Sacramento, California. This came just days after Jimmy Kimmel was bounced from the airwaves by the network. Yeah, things have changed since then, but that’s not relevant to our discussion today. What is relevant is the fact that a gun control advocate got a gun in a gun-controlled state, used that gun in an anti-gun city, and was arrested…

…Only to be back out on the streets in no time at all.

Let’s look at this for a moment, as well as a few other recent examples.

Shooting into an occupied building is a felony in California, and assault with a deadly weapon can be charged as one as well. And yet, Hernandez-Santana was booked and then released on $200,000 bail within just a few hours. Hernandez-Santana allegedly fired a gun into an occupied building with little regard for whoever was in there, was caught by Sacramento police, and was released in time for dinner. He would still be out on the streets if he weren’t then arrested by the FBI, which is holding him without bail for allegedly interfering with the communications of government-licensed stations.

There are several other examples of California not taking gun control seriously. Newsom and legislative Democrats did not mind when former Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascon shunned gun crime sentencing enhancements and sought light sentences for convicted gun criminals. California has strict gun control laws in place, but only selectively enforces them, as evidenced by the arrest of NFL player Denzel Perryman. Newsom and California Democrats prioritize getting criminals out of jail as soon as possible to prevent “mass incarceration,” even if those criminals use guns in their crimes, and all the while, they lecture law-abiding citizens about the need to regulate their ability to purchase and own firearms.

California under Newsom is not serious about locking up gun criminals and keeping communities safe. If it were, then gun criminals wouldn’t be repeatedly released and given sentences that include little to no jail time. Every time Newsom talks about gun control, he is talking about making things harder for law-abiding gun owners, not for the criminals he is so concerned may be the victims of “mass incarceration.”

Now, I see mass incarceration as an issue, too. However, my solution is to just make fewer things illegal, particularly things that don’t have an impact on other people. If you’re not ready to go that route, then at least make some of those crimes fines instead of offenses worthy of prison.

For example, repealing a lot of the state’s gun control laws would work wonders in keeping from having so many people to lock up.

But they don’t want to go that route. As a result, they decide that no one should be behind bars and take someone who tried to kill people at a television station because his favorite terrible “comedian” got fired, and they were ready to send him home so he could be back at work on Monday or whatever.

Are you freaking kidding me?

Look, I know that Newsom and Gascon have very different views on guns than I do. I can accept that.

But shouldn’t we be able to find common ground on locking up the people who shoot up places? Can’t we agree that recklessly discharging a firearm, particularly with the intent to kill or even just “send a message,” are people we shouldn’t have walking around on our streets?

The difference, though, is that folks on this side of the debate have enough brains to recognize that the problem is the person. California anti-gunners probably figure that since the police held onto his gun, he’s harmless.

At least, that’s all I can come up with if I try to put myself in their shoes and find any kind of “logic” in their actions.

If that’s what they’re thinking, then they’re idiots.

Of course, they’re idiots anyway, but I digress.

This shooting was clearly an act of domestic terrorism. It was an act of violence intended to send a political message, which is exactly what terrorism is. The fact that California was ready to send him back out into the world so soon tells you where the state’s priorities are.

They want violent people on the streets, all while pretending good, law-abiding gun owners are the violent ones.

How do people not see through this?

Editor’s Note: The radical left will stop at nothing to enact their radical gun control agenda and strip us of our Second Amendment rights, even as they continue to put violent criminals back out on the streets.
