Kamala: I Couldn’t Fly an Hour to Do Rogan’s Show … On My Private Jet

Everyone knew that Kamala Harris couldn’t achieve coherence in extemporaneous speech. The former VP and Democrat presidential nominee has a lifetime achievement award from Top Chef for her infamous word salads. It takes a special kind of talent, though, to achieve incoherence in the printed word — and to get paid handsomely for it.

At least we assume Harris got paid handsomely. Her new book 107 Days seems intended to burn down any ambitions she might have for later political office. Even her allies wonder what she’s thinking this week:

Democrats privately worry the parade of scab-picking, backward-looking books isn’t helping the party move on, especially as its brand sinks to new lows in public polling.

“At a time when people are looking for a vision and leadership … and want to see leaders rise to the level of threat facing the country, it’s pretty crazy she chose to write a gossip book that prioritizes the pettiness of her politics,” said an adviser to a potential 2028 candidate granted anonymity to discuss the issue candidly. “It’s embarrassing for her, and for all Democrats, considering she was the leader of the party less than a year ago.” …

“If this was intended as a campaign launch, I don’t think it got off the pad,” said David Axelrod, a longtime senior adviser to former President Barack Obama. “If it was intended as a catharsis, only she can know if it was successful.”

Eh … maybe. Harris isn’t the reason why Democrats’ ratings have sunk somewhere between used-car salesmen and Bud Light. In that sense, Harris is largely irrelevant; the Democrat establishment has picked up Harris’ radical Leftism and run with it since her defeat, having learned nothing from it. Their Trump Derangement Syndrome since the election has allowed Donald Trump to continue his “cornering strategy” to force Democrats to champion the 20%-or-less positions on issues that matter most to Americans: crime, economy, immigration, and so on.

The problem isn’t so much about “scab picking” as it is about unintended revelations. Not only is 107 Days proving to be a dud, it’s proving again that Harris is a dud as well, both intellectually and in integrity. She’s still painting herself as a victim of everything but her own dullness and incompetence. The Free Beacon highlights the latest example from the book, in which Harris argues that — even with a private jet at her disposal — she couldn’t do Joe Rogan’s podcast because it would have taken too long to travel to his studio.

In Austin.

From … Houston.

No, really:

Harris recounts her side of the Rogan story in a section of her new book on the 2024 campaign, 107 Days. She writes that she “really wanted to do” an interview with the celebrity podcaster even as campaign aides “argued it was a bad idea.” When Rogan’s team asked Harris to come to Austin for the interview, however, Harris was uncertain about “spending time in Texas so close to the election, when every minute in a swing state mattered.” Then she traveled to Houston, which is also in Texas, for a “big rally on reproductive rights” in late October, and Rogan offered to host her the morning after the event.

“They said they could do it at 8:30 a.m., not later, as Joe had ‘commitments,'” Harris writes. “I had commitments as well, and it wasn’t feasible to get from Houston to Austin by 8:30 a.m.”

Um … wut? First off, that’s not what Rogan says happened, which the Free Beacon notes and to which we’ll return in a moment. But even if Rogan hard time limitation, what prevented Harris from getting to Austin by 8:30? She had her own plane, don’t forget. Many people get up early to go to the airport for business meetings, and they don’t have the luxury of a plane on standby waiting for them to instantly whisk them away. It was more than “feasible” for Harris to get to Austin by 8:30; it would barely have been an inconvenience.

In other words, Harris is lying, and not even coherently, in 107 Days. It became clear almost immediately that refusing to do Rogan’s show was a mistake (although, arguably, it could have been more of a mistake to show up, given Harris’ lack of coherence in such situations). She’s still attempting to gaslight the American electorate, only with a very small supply of gas.

Let’s get back to Rogan, who insists that he never told Harris’ team anything of the sort:

“I said, ‘Any time, if she’s done at 10 o’clock, I’ll come back here at 10 o’clock.’ I go ‘I’ll do it at nine in the morning, I’ll do it at 10 p.m., I’ll do it at midnight.'”

Who are we to believe? A moment’s thought makes it obvious. If I’m a podcaster, I’d leave my entire schedule open for the sitting Vice President of the United States, not to mention a major-party nominee for president. Rogan’s only condition was that the interview had to take place in his studio, the same as it did with Donald Trump. And Harris was less than an hour away by plane at the time anyway, so that shouldn’t have been an issue.

Harris is lying, probably mainly to herself, as a way to keep portraying herself as a victim. She won’t come to grips with reality, which is that she was lucky to have gotten elected to the US Senate and should have stayed there for a lifetime sinecure. She probably planned 107 Days as a platform for a relaunch, but like Axelrod said, it backfires even as catharsis. Its main value is to validate the choice made by the American electorate last November, and for that we should be grateful.

Well … that, and for all of the laughs.
