CCRKBA Welcomes Rick Patterson to Board of Directors

During the September 26 Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms meeting, firearms industry member Rick Patterson was nominated and then elected to the Board of Directors.

The 2025 Gun Rights Policy Conference co-hosted by CCRKBA and the Second Amendment Foundation came and went. The day of the kick-off reception, CCRKBA held their board meeting and Rick Patterson was nominated to fill a vacant director’s spot. Patterson was unanimously voted on to join the Board of Directors.

Patterson has a long history as a member of the firearms industry dating back to the 90s. He had a 13-year long tenure with the National Shooting Sports Foundation as their director of facility development. Following his time at NSSF, Patterson moved on to Sporting Arms and Ammunition Manufacturers’ Institute for 17 years. He led the organization as its executive director from 2011 – 2021.

“Rick’s addition to the board of directors comes at a critical time,” said CCRKBA Chairman Alan Gottlieb. “I’ve known Rick for several years and worked with him on national and international issues, so I am well aware of his qualifications and abilities, which will help guide the Committee’s direction in the months and years ahead. He’s a guy who ‘walks the walk.”

“It’s no secret that gun control, and the weaponization of government agencies during the previous administration, created massive problems for American gun owners,” Gottlieb continued. “While the Trump administration is moving to correct those abuses, Rick’s experience and know-how will be crucial in setting our course. You just don’t find someone like him every day of the week.

“On the international scale,” he noted, “Rick has been an NGO delegate, fighting for our gun rights at the United Nations. He’s literally been on the front lines watching the global gun control effort, and he knows the ‘ins’ and ‘outs’ when it comes to protecting our Second Amendment rights from anti-gunners who consider the right to keep and bear arms to be an inconvenient anachronism in their crusade to end civilian arms ownership.

“I’m personally delighted to have Rick on board,” Gottlieb concluded. “The challenges we’re facing just over the horizon will require people with skill and experience to face and overcome, and Rick has both.”

Patterson was a 2014 Second Amendment Foundation “Defender of Liberty” award recipient and in 2015 the Foundation presented him with the “Global Leadership” award.

The Montana State University graduate, Cum Laude, was awarded the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Environmental Quality Award in 2003. Patterson developed and promoted a cooperative lead management program for outdoor shooting ranges.

Our future success will require unprecedented levels of cooperation and coordination throughout the firearms community.

“I’m looking forward to helping CCRKBA, our members, and our partners and affiliates protect our Constitutional rights and — even more significant — ensure law-abiding citizens have the best tools available to effectively exercise our fundamental human right to protect ourselves, our families, and our neighbors.”

Patterson is bringing with him a complex and unique set of skills, and experience which will be utilized to continue advancing CCRKBA’s core mission. On a personal note, I’m looking forward to getting to know Rick more as we work together on the Committee’s board.
