Chicago Mayor Tries ‘ICE-Free Zones’ to Protect Illegal Immigrants

When President Donald Trump was arrested, the refrain from Democrats across the country was “no one is above the law.”

This is a sentiment that I actually agree with. It’s just too bad that Hunter Biden was never held to the same standard, to say nothing of a lot of other prominent Democrats, but that’s hardly shocking.

Now, the part of “no one is above the law” is tripping over itself to protect the wrong people. In addition to Seattle’s current mayor wanting to hang out with repeat offenders, we’ve got Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson isn’t just trying to protect criminals, he’s trying to create no-go zones for ICE agents.

This follows Chicago police being ordered not to go and aid ICE agents who were under fire, and now this:

WHAT IN THE ACTUAL SAM HELL?!

As if that wasn’t unforgivable enough, the city’s phony, fatuous fatmouth got in front of cameras just a little bit ago to make matters immeasurably worse. 

Such natural talent for such a little, unmanned vehicle.

He announced signing – using the royal third person ‘we,’ no less –  an executive order aimed at ‘reining in this out of control administration’ and establishing ‘ICE-free zones’ in the city.

Good luck and vaya con Dios, doofus.

Mayor Johnson can write & sign as many executive orders as he’d like, he should do whatever makes him feel good inside.

The defender of illegal aliens in Chicago is going to spend hard-earned dollars he doesn’t have to put signs up everywhere for Homan’s boys to read and heed.

Should be effective, kind of like the, uh, ‘Gun Free Zone’ concept. You know, since Johnson is so concerned with Chicagoans’ safety and all.

NOBODY IS ABOVE THE LAW

Except for illegal aliens in Brandon Johnson’s Chicago. Schweet!

The order applies to city-owned property that has a sign that reads: “This property is owned and/or controlled by the City of Chicago. It may not be used for civil immigration enforcement, including as a: Staging area, processing location or operations base.”

Sanctuary policies were bad enough, but now they’re trying to create physical shields around illegal immigrants in Chicago by trying to keep out federal law enforcement.

Let’s understand that, regardless of where you stand on our nation’s immigration policy, these people came here in violation of immigration laws. I’m a firm believer that our system needs to be overhauled. People who want to come here legally shouldn’t have to wait for years and years just to get the chance. On the same token, they need to be vetted to make sure we’re not letting in literal gang members.

But Johnson’s policy here is about protecting all illegal immigrants. Each one broke the law to come here, and while some just want to keep their heads down and make a good life in the United States, they still broke the rules. Each one of these people is a slap in the face of legal immigrants, many of whom I consider either dear friends or outright family.

Moreover, I’m not sure how legal this actually is.

The Supremacy Clause gives the federal government, well, supremacy. While sanctuary policies just mean that local cops won’t directly work with the feds on immigration laws, I fail to see how a local government has the authority to keep federal law enforcement from enforcing federal laws, even if it’s on city-owned property.

I get that Johnson is trying to talk tough, like most other Democratic mayors these days, but I find this amusing considering, as my colleague Beege Wellborn noted above, this is likely to work just as well as gun-free zones.

To say nothing of the fact that Chicago keeps talking about protecting its citizens via gun control, then actively works to protect criminals, many of whom have a violent history in their home country and are engaging in similar behavior here.

Remember this the next time he gripes about gun laws in Indiana.
