I added this as an update to my earlier post but this is big news so I’m starting a new one. It appears Hamas and Israel have agreed to the Trump Peace Plan and a deal could be signed as soon as tomorrow in Cairo.
Earlier today, Trump was holding a roundtable about Antifa in the White House. As things were wrapping up, he invited Sec. of State Marco Rubio to come up. Rubio handed Trump a note and whispered something in his ear.
President Trump said Wednesday that negotiations over a cease-fire in Gaza and the release of Israeli hostages being held by Hamas were “going very well,” and raised the possibility he may head to the Mideast over the weekend, presumably to mark a cease-fire and release of hostages.
His enthusiasm was bolstered late in the afternoon, during a public event in the East Room, when he was handed a note by Secretary of State Marco Rubio suggesting that negotiators in Egypt were “very close” — the words were underlined — and asked Mr. Trump to “approve a Truth Social post soon so you can announce deal first.”
The president’s comments, combined with Mr. Rubio’s note, caught by the long lens of an Associated Press photographer, were the most definitive suggestion yet that the two-year-long conflict may be about to pause, if not end.
Here’s that moment.
Watch as Donald Trump is handed a note by Marco Rubio during an event at the White House.

Since there there are even more signs that the deal has been reached.

The negotiators in Egypt were caught on camera shaking hands and giving hugs.
In Egypt, happy faces and hugs can be seen, as well as a rare handshake between Qatar’s Prime Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani and a member of the Israeli negotiating team, Ret. Maj. Gen. Nitzan Alon, with reports suggesting that a ceasefire and hostage… pic.twitter.com/npOKuyLZqe

As I’m writing this, President Trump just posted the aforementioned announcement on Truth Social.
I am very proud to announce that Israel and Hamas have both signed off on the first Phase of our Peace Plan. This means that ALL of the Hostages will be released very soon, and Israel will withdraw their Troops to an agreed upon line as the first steps toward a Strong, Durable, and Everlasting Peace. All Parties will be treated fairly! This is a GREAT Day for the Arab and Muslim World, Israel, all surrounding Nations, and the United States of America, and we thank the mediators from Qatar, Egypt, and Turkey, who worked with us to make this Historic and Unprecedented Event happen. BLESSED ARE THE PEACEMAKERS!
DONALD J. TRUMP
PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA
Trump deserves the credit if this deal happens. This is the kind of acknowledgement you don’t see every day from the left-leaning NY Times.
While he has cited more than a half-dozen conflicts in which he claims to have been the driving force for peace agreements, or cessations of conflict, he would be able to make a good case that he was the driving force of a Gaza agreement.
His 20-point plan was both more comprehensive and better considered than many of his early foreign policy initiatives. “This cease-fire and hostage release — if it happens — only came to fruition because of Trump’s willingness to pressure Prime Minister Netanyahu,’’ said Aaron David Miller of the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, who has often been critical of Mr. Trump’s starts and stops in the Mideast. “No president — Republican or Democrat — has ever come down harder on an Israeli prime minister on issues so critically important to his politics or his country’s security interests.”
As I mentioned earlier, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi has already invited Trump to Egypt for a signing. But I’m seeing some reports that a signing could take place tomorrow at noon in Cairo. At the moment it appears he’ll miss the signing and will instead be heading to Egypt on Friday.
The White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt announced today that on Friday President Trump will have “his routine yearly checkup” at Walter Reed.

All of this is happening pretty quickly so things could change. Maybe the signing will be pushed back to Saturday or maybe Trump will instead head to Israel to be present for the release of some of the remaining hostages.
Either way, it’s a very big day for the president, maybe the biggest of his 2nd term. He took a risk putting his own credibility on the line in front of the entire globe to push this forward, and at this moment it looks like he won.
Of course, nothing is final until the hostages are actually free. Fingers crossed that process begins tomorrow.
