Abigail Spanberger Refuses to Withdraw Her Endorsement of Jay Jones

The only gubernatorial debate between Abagail Spanberger and Winsome Earle-Sears is taking place in Virginia tonight. Not surprisingly, one of the issues that has come up is the text messages by Jay Jones and the fact that Spanberger has never retracted her endorsement of Jones.

Earle-Sears came right out during her first response to a question and asked Spanberger when she was going to call on Jones to drop out of the race.

As promised, they did get to that issue as the second question of the debate. After quoting Jones’s statements about shooting his Republican colleague, Spanberger was asked if she would continue to endorse him. She did her best to dodge the question.

The moderator noticed that Spanberger never answered the question and tried three more times to get to her to give a yes or no answer. 

Holy. Smokes.

Abigail Spanberger was FINALLY confronted about whether or not she continues to endorse Jay Jones.

It’s pretty creepy how Spanberger refuses to even look at Earle-Sears when she’s speaking directly to her. I wonder if she treats her house cleaner like this.

The debate went on to some other issues and after a commercial break it returned with a new question for Spanberger: “Focusing on a K-thru-12 school system, should transgender girls who are biological males be allowed to use girls bathrooms and play on girls sports teams?”

As you’ll see in this clip, Spanberger is like a robot. She never answers the question and just keeps repeating the same scripted lines about parents in communities. She will not say that boys don’t belong in girls’ locker rooms. She will not say that boys don’t belong in girls’ sports.

Her basic tack here is that she doesn’t have to answer anyone’s questions. She just runs out the clock until the debate is forced to move on.

RCP has Spanberger with a 7.9 point lead over Earle-Sears in recent polling. That’s a big gap to overcome and not much time left to do it. We can only hope that Virginia voters come to their senses at some point.
