The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) publicly responded after singer Chappell Roan made an anti-ICE statement during her performance at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California, on Friday.

Roan, who rose to prominence with her hit “Pink Pony Club,” told the crowd “f**k ICE forever” while performing at the festival.

The comment, made in front of thousands of fans, was widely circulated on social media and quickly drew a response from federal officials. DHS Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs Tricia McLaughlin addressed Roan’s remarks directly, telling TMZ, “Pink Pony Club is good. Pedophiles are bad. That’s who we’re getting off of our streets. Get a grip.”

The exchange follows a pattern of politically charged statements from Roan, whose real name is Kayleigh Rose Amstutz.

This Could Be the Most Important Video Gun Owners Watch All Year

The Missouri-born singer has become known for using her platform to advocate for progressive causes and LGBTQ+ activism.

She has previously pledged a portion of ticket sales from her concerts to organizations promoting gender transition services for minors.

In 2023, Roan used her acceptance speech at the MTV Video Music Awards to dedicate her win to “all the queer kids in the Midwest,” saying, “I am one of you.”

Her remarks and advocacy have made her a prominent figure among left-wing cultural activists but have also drawn criticism for her repeated attacks on law enforcement and conservative policies.

Roan has also come under fire for controversial political statements beyond immigration.

She has publicly expressed sympathy for Palestinians amid the Israel–Hamas conflict, which critics said amounted to support for Hamas.

Her stance drew sharp criticism from across the political spectrum, including HBO host Bill Maher, who said during his program that Roan’s position was dangerously naïve.

Maher stated that if she “were living under Hamas, she’d be the first person they’d throw off a roof,” referring to the militant group’s record of executing individuals accused of being gay.

The Department of Homeland Security’s response marks a rare public rebuke of a performer over comments made on stage.

ICE, the Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency, operates under DHS and is tasked with enforcing immigration laws, identifying and deporting illegal aliens, and targeting criminal networks, including drug traffickers, human smugglers, and child predators.

Federal officials said the agency remains focused on removing individuals who pose threats to national security and public safety.

“That’s who we’re getting off of our streets,” McLaughlin reiterated in her statement.

The Biden-era decline in immigration enforcement had sparked controversy during previous years, but the Trump administration has reaffirmed its commitment to aggressive border control and interior enforcement.

According to data released by the White House, more than 2.2 million foreign nationals living in the U.S. illegally have departed the country since President Donald Trump took office and reinstated a strict immigration policy.

ICE officials have emphasized that their operations target individuals with criminal convictions and ties to organized crime.

Many of the agency’s recent deportations have involved individuals charged with child exploitation, drug trafficking, and violent offenses.

The agency maintains that its mission remains focused on national security and the protection of American communities.

The incident highlights the ongoing clash between political activism within the entertainment industry and federal law enforcement.

While Roan continues to use her performances to advance progressive causes, federal agencies have made clear that enforcement operations will continue as part of the administration’s broader immigration and public safety strategy.
