Lefties Eat Crow, Admit Trump Was Right On One Of His Biggest Issues

Leave it to an octogenarian to read the room better than most of his under-50 colleagues. 

“Trump did a better job. I don’t like Trump, but we should have a secure border and it ain’t that hard to do. Biden didn’t do it, those before him did not do it. We should have a secure border, period,” said Independent Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders on an Oct. 22 episode of the Tim Dillon Show. 

Far-left commentator and former MSNBC host Mehdi Hasan rebuked Sanders for the remarks, writing on X on Oct. 23: “This may be the single worst thing Bernie Sanders has ever said, and I say this as a long-time Bernie admirer. Praising Trump for his *border policies*? Endorsing lazy rightwing talking points about Biden and border security, and nations not existing without borders? If Hasan’s unhappy with you, you’re on the right track.

Sanders is the latest leftie to begrudgingly acknowledge Trump’s superb work in securing the border.

Democratic Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker admitted Thursday that illegal border crossing plummeted under Trump’s leadership. 

“Here’s what I would say. Since President Trump has taken office, we don’t have the problem that existed before with people coming across the border,” Pritzker told Fox News’ Bret Baier. 

Pritzker still took some time to blame Republicans for his own failures. Of course.

“One thing I can say is that I asked President Biden and wrote a very public letter to deal with some of the problems at the border. We were seeing, you know, tens of thousands of people being sent by [Republican Texas] Gov. [Greg] Abbott to Chicago,” Pritzker told Baier when asked about Trump’s best accomplishment since being inaugurated Jan. 20. “And we weren’t getting any help really from the federal government.”

Savvier Democrats appear to be pivoting from the pro-illegal-alien hysteria governing the party until approximately five minutes ago. 

Democrats like Katherine Clark, minority whip of the House of Representatives, are in complete denial of their party’s former platform.

Clark urged her followers to not “believe the GOP’s lies,” highlighting a sentence claiming Democrats are not demanding taxpayer funded benefits for illegal aliens.

A slew of Democrats introduced the “HEAL for Immigrant Families Act” in 2023. Those included New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Michigan Rep. Rashida Tlaib, and New York Rep. Jerry Nadler. 

“It is the purpose of this Act to …  advance the ability of undocumented individuals to obtain health insurance coverage through the health insurance exchanges established under part II of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act” and “eliminate the authority for States to restrict Medicaid eligibility for lawful permanent residents,” the bill’s text reads. We’ve progressed from “we’re giving illegal aliens taxpayer-funded benefits, and that’s a good thing” to “we never tried to give illegal aliens taxpayer-benefit benefits.” 

By the time 2028 rolls around, Democrats will be pretending they built a border wall brick by brick.
