Former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo told donors this week that he does not plan to leave the state, signaling he intends to remain active in public life following his recent election loss. Cuomo’s comments were made in a letter sent to contributors of his mayoral campaign and obtained by The Post.

“The campaign may be over, but our work is not. I’m not going anywhere,” Cuomo wrote, citing priorities that include combating antisemitism and improving public safety.

The message comes amid growing speculation that Cuomo may seek another elected office.

Cuomo has issued similar statements since his November 4 defeat, hinting that he may run for office again.

Rumors have circulated that he could be considering another bid for governor or a run for Congress.

On Monday, Cuomo’s team released an open letter that generated immediate criticism on X.

Among the responses was one from state Sen. Gustavo Rivera, who wrote, “Christ…Andrew is basically the human personification of herpes. Just because you can’t see it right this second, don’t mean he’s gone away!”

Rivera added, “Please, dude: just be like Hep-C so we can get rid of you already!”

Another user on X wrote, “NY DOES NOT F–KING WANT YOU! Oh my f–king GOD! What’s wrong with him?”

Cuomo further fueled speculation during a WABC radio conversation earlier in the week with former Gov. David Paterson.

During the segment, Cuomo said, “You can win a city as a socialist. You can’t win a state. You can’t win nationally as a socialist.”

The comments were interpreted by some observers as signaling an interest in another statewide or national campaign.

His recent remarks contrast with comments he made earlier this year.

Following his loss in the June mayoral primary to Zohran Mamdani, Cuomo joked during a July breakfast in the Hamptons that he would leave New York if Mamdani won in November.

“We either win or even I will move to Florida. God forbid,” Cuomo said at the time.

Andrew Cuomo said that if Mamdani wins, “he’s moving to Florida.” New Yorkers cannot run from their problems. Can you imagine if George Washington had done that? Cuomo spokesperson Rich Azzopardi said the July remark was intended as humor and criticized Rivera for his comments.

“Last I checked Senator Rivera never got 900,000 votes, but given his documented online interests I wouldn’t be surprised if he knew a thing or two about herpes,” Azzopardi said.

Cuomo has not announced any formal plans regarding a future campaign, but his recent public messaging has left the door open to the possibility of returning to electoral politics.
