Four Dead, Ten Injured in Mass Shooting at Child’s Birthday Party [WATCH]

A child’s birthday party in Stockton turned into a homicide scene Saturday evening after gunfire erupted inside a local banquet hall, leaving four people dead and ten others injured, according to the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office, as reported by TMZ.

Deputies were called to the scene at around 6 p.m. after receiving reports of a shooting during the family gathering.

When deputies entered the banquet hall, they discovered four individuals who had died from gunshot wounds. Ten additional victims were found wounded and were transported to nearby hospitals.

Authorities said the conditions of the surviving victims were not immediately available.

Heather Bren, a spokesperson for the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office, said the early stages of the investigation indicate the attack was targeted.

Detectives spent the night gathering evidence and interviewing witnesses as they worked to determine what led to the shooting.

Vice Mayor of Stockton Jason Lee addressed the incident in a Facebook post, calling the situation devastating. Lee wrote that a child’s “birthday party should never be a place where families fear for their lives.”

He added that he grew up in Stockton and intended to press public safety officials for answers as the investigation continues.

The shooter remains at large, and law enforcement officials have not released any suspect description or potential motive. Deputies have asked anyone with information to contact investigators as they work to identify the person responsible.

Authorities said additional details will be released as the investigation progresses.
