Perfect Metaphor For How Democrats Do Things

There were two big announcements about legal action against fraud that took place in Minnesota yesterday. 

One by the US Attorney, who is investigating the massive welfare fraud that has, so far, amounted to over $10 billion uncovered, and billions more to come in the future. 

I would say “unbelievable,” but this is Walz’s Minnesota.

The other comes from Minnesota’s Attorney General, who was caught on tape promising to help the fraudsters who stole that money; he, too, wants you to know that he will go after the cheaters. 

Menards ran a deceptive rebate scheme and jacked up prices during COVID. We took them to court — and we won.

For those of you who live outside the Midwest, Menards is a store similar to Lowe’s or Home Depot, selling home improvement products and other goods. Its target audience is less upscale than Lowe’s, and it is very popular because you get an enormous selection at lower prices. 

Its big promotion is an 11% rebate program, promoted with the jingle “save big money at Menards.”

My Attorney General, along with a few others, sued Menards on the basis that the rebate program required you to do what every rebate programs does: send in your receipts with a claim form to get your 11%.

This isn’t a secret. It’s like coupons, which lure people to buy things, but often enough people don’t use them because they are inconvenient. If you use the coupon, you save; if you forget to, then you don’t. It’s not a scam, but a marketing tool. 

I occasional shop at Menards, but I absolutely never use the rebate because I am lazy. The guy who built my deck this summer shops at Menards because he purchases a lot of stuff as a contractor, and he puts in the rebates and it subsidizes his profits. He charges me a bit less, makes a bit more, and everybody is happy. 

He can’t do that anymore. And you can bet Menards can’t lower its prices for everybody by 11%. 

This is insane…

Ellison, who was caught on tape telling the Feeding Our Future fraudsters that he would push back against bureaucrats looking into their fraud, and subsequently took capaign contributions from them, wants us to know that he is looking out for us. Big bad Menards makes you send in receipts, so the Attorneys General are going to collect millions of dollars that will be added to the prices as part of the settlement. And so have the fraudsters, who also have taken taxpayers for a ride. 

The biggest fraud scheme in America is the government. In Minnesota, the claim that “Taxation is Theft” has come to life.
