Texas Teen Missing Since Christmas Eve Feared in Imminent Danger, Authorities Claim

Authorities in Texas are searching for a 19-year-old woman who vanished from her San Antonio home early Christmas Eve and is now feared to be in “imminent danger,” according to law enforcement officials, as reported by The New York Post.

Camila “Cami” Mendoza Olmos was last seen just before 7 a.m. Wednesday outside her home in San Antonio, according to the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies said Olmos was wearing pajama shorts and a hoodie when she disappeared.

Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar said deputies, investigators, and volunteers have been searching continuously since Olmos was reported missing. He told CBS News that authorities are not limiting the scope of the investigation.

“We definitely don’t want to miss anything,” Salazar said, adding that investigators are “not ruling out that this case may take us outside the borders of the continental United States,” according to CBS News.

Salazar said law enforcement is exploring all possible scenarios, including kidnapping, human trafficking, or the possibility that Olmos left on her own. He emphasized that no theory has been ruled out.

The sheriff noted that Olmos had recently gone through a breakup, but described it as mutual. He said investigators do not currently suspect anything “nefarious” involving people close to her and confirmed that those in her inner circle have been cooperative.

Salazar also addressed concerns about Olmos’ immigration status, stating that she is a U.S. citizen and was not detained by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

“That was a personal concern,” Salazar said. “So I had it checked to make sure there were no stops, no detentions, and that she’s not somewhere in a federal detention facility. That is something we needed to check.”

According to the sheriff’s office, surveillance video captured Olmos outside her home shortly before her disappearance.

The footage shows her rummaging through her car before the video cuts off. Authorities said she never returned home and left her vehicle behind.

Investigators believe Olmos left on foot, carrying only her car keys and possibly her driver’s license. Her phone was left behind.

Olmos’ mother, Rosario, told investigators she woke up Wednesday morning and could not find her daughter, who typically took early-morning walks.

By 9:30 a.m., Rosario became increasingly concerned and attempted to call her daughter. She then discovered Olmos’ phone on a bed with a dead battery.

Salazar described Olmos’ behavior as “highly unusual,” noting that she leads an active lifestyle and would not normally leave her phone behind or fail to return home.

“That’s why we’re working basically around the clock on this case,” Salazar told CBS News.

While declining to share sensitive investigative details, Salazar said authorities fear Olmos may be in “imminent danger.”

Federal agencies, including the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Department of Homeland Security, are assisting by monitoring border crossings and international travel.

Olmos’ childhood best friend, Camila Estrella, said the two last spoke on the phone Tuesday while discussing plans to go dress shopping for an upcoming family event.

“She said, ‘Bye Cami, I love you,’” Estrella said. “She was someone who was just full of love.”

“This is so random — we never expected this.”
