A security guard was fatally shot Wednesday evening outside a Houston restaurant following a confrontation with another man, according to authorities, as reported by Fox News.

The shooting occurred around 6:15 p.m. outside Connie’s Seafood Market Restaurant, located in Houston, Texas. The Houston Police Department confirmed that officers responded to reports of gunfire in the restaurant’s parking lot.

According to police, the security guard was employed by the restaurant and was on duty at the time of the incident.

Investigators said the guard was standing in the parking lot when an altercation broke out between him and another man. During the confrontation, the suspect produced a firearm and shot the guard at least once, FOX26 Houston reported.

Emergency responders transported the victim to a nearby hospital, where he later died from his injuries. Authorities have not yet released the identity of the security guard, pending notification of next of kin.

Police said the suspect fled the scene immediately after the shooting, running away from the parking lot before officers arrived.

As of Thursday morning, no arrests had been announced, and investigators had not released a description of the suspect.

Officials have also not disclosed what led to the confrontation or whether the suspect had any prior connection to the restaurant or the victim. Police said the circumstances surrounding the argument remain under investigation.

Detectives are reviewing surveillance footage from the area and interviewing witnesses in an effort to identify and locate the suspect.

Police said nearby businesses and the restaurant itself may have security cameras that captured the incident or the suspect’s escape route.

Authorities have urged anyone with information related to the shooting to contact the Houston Police Department or submit tips anonymously through Crime Stoppers.

The shooting adds to ongoing concerns about violent crime incidents involving security personnel in public spaces.

Police have not indicated whether the guard was armed at the time of the confrontation or whether the shooting was captured on video.

The investigation remains active, and officials said additional details will be released as they become available.
