Dems ‘Lied From the Very Beginning’ About Minneapolis ICE Shooting: Karoline Leavitt [WATCH]

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt accused Democrats and elements of the mainstream media on Monday of “lying from the very beginning” about a fatal Immigration and Customs Enforcement shooting in Minneapolis, saying critics have been forced to change their narrative after video evidence emerged, as reported by Fox News.

Appearing on Fox News’ America Reports, Leavitt said initial claims about the incident did not align with what subsequent footage showed. “They have had to change their story and their narrative,” Leavitt said.

The controversy stems from a Jan. 7 incident in which an ICE agent fatally shot Minneapolis resident Renee Nicole Good. Authorities say the shooting occurred after Good attempted to run the agent over with her vehicle.

The Department of Homeland Security has stated that the agent was acting in self-defense. DHS Secretary Kristi Noem has said Good was “stalking” ICE officers prior to the confrontation.

The incident drew swift condemnation from prominent Democrats.

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and other Democratic leaders described the shooting as murder and criticized what they characterized as “lawless violence” by the Trump administration.

Leavitt rejected those characterizations, saying Democrats were “wrong” and lying “despicably” about the facts of the case.

“Because at first, you heard Democrats, including the mayor of Minneapolis, saying that the car never struck the officer and the lethal force was unjustified,” she said.

“Now, of course, there is plentiful video evidence to show that the officer was struck by the car, that this deranged lunatic woman was trying to ram him over with her vehicle and was using that vehicle as a weapon, which justifies domestic terrorism.”

Fox News anchor John Roberts asked Leavitt whether President Donald Trump believes the ICE officer’s actions were justified. Leavitt responded, “Absolutely.”

“And I think the more evidence that comes out shows the officer was justified, and President Trump was right about this all along,” she continued.

Leavitt said the events in Minneapolis reflect a broader pattern of attempts to interfere with federal law enforcement operations. Minneapolis is not the only place where “organized paid antagonists” have sought to obstruct ICE agents, she said.

“They are harassing and targeting ICE agents, trying to make it impossible again for them to carry out their duties. That’s what was happening in this case,” Leavitt said.

She also defended the ICE agent involved in the shooting, describing him as “experienced” and “brave,” and emphasizing that he acted according to his training.

“That officer used his training,” Leavitt said.

“I understand that he’s been on the force and he’s protecting American communities for many, many years. He’s an experienced and brave individual who, unfortunately, had to make a very tough decision and was put in that position by these paid agitators who have been doing this all over the country.”

Federal authorities have not announced the completion of their investigation, but DHS officials have maintained that available evidence supports the agent’s account of the incident.

The case continues to be cited by the White House as an example of what it says is misinformation surrounding immigration enforcement and the risks faced by ICE agents during operations.
