There Are So Many Insanely Stupid Arguments About ICE Arrests

I am frequently amazed at how many people have strong opinions about ICE activities without having the slightest idea about what they are talking. 

I mean none. No idea at all. The opinion comes before the information, although that opinion is often informed by the highly curated stories they are fed by the Pravda Media. 

If you hear often enough that ICE is untrained, not really law enforcement, grabbing innocent people off the streets, and that they are shooting innocent soccer moms dropping their kids off at daycare, it shouldn’t surprise me that they get worked up based on utterly uninformed opinions. 

I often hear about the “due process” claims, which are, on the whole, totally bogus. Most of the people have warrants out for their detention by ICE. Those warrants are issued based on a priority list of people who have been arrested for committing heinous crimes such as rape and murder, and of course, rather nasty child sexual abuse. In cities that cooperate with ICE these arrests take place at jails or court hearings, and there is little muss or fuss, but in sanctuary jurisdictions, the authorities rush the offenders out of the system before ICE can detain them. 

The reason why so many illegal aliens who have not been subject to prior arrests are getting swept up in these enforcement operations is that ICE has to go out into the community and find the offenders, and when they encounter other illegal aliens they arrest them as well for breaking our immigration laws. They were not HIGH priorities and would never have been swept up in the dragnet, but the political leaders here have decided to up the tension, so they are. The alternative is for ICE to quit enforcing immigration law. 

Some internet legal “experts” are complaining that illegal aliens who are accused or been convicted of crimes should be arrested by local police, as if ICE has not role in apprehending illegal aliens who have been accused of crimes. Somehow it violated “due proces” for ICE to deport them rather than leave enforcement to the local law enforcement officials. 

A fundamental misunderstanding of how it works.

If he was arrested w/ pending charges & made bail, what grounds would police have to re-arrest?

ICE has a responsibility to make arrests of these public safety threats if they are non-citizens who are subject to deportation/immigration enforcement, and they do so without local cooperation due to sanctuary policies.

The underlying criminal case doesn’t matter, because that’s not what ICE is arresting him for. That’s MN case. ICE is arresting for immigration status. The underlying crime just determines where the alien falls on a list of priorities, and a child sex crime is high on that list.

Actually happens fairly often cause of bail reform in blue states. I’ve covered multiple stories in Massachusetts where illegal immigrants charged with aggravated child rape have been released on just $500 bond, as shocking as that is to believe.

This is profoundly stupid. Let’s say there is a man arrested for abusing children. It will take months or years to prosecute him, and in the meantime, he is let back out onto the streets awaiting trial. 

The “due process” geeks argue that ICE should ignore the fact that he can be removed legally, never to offend again, right now, rather than awaiting trial. 

Yes, he has not been convicted of the crime…yet. But so what? He is deportable, never to bother us again if ICE kicks him out. Or we could wait, have him free to offend again, eventually be convicted and jailed, and then let him out to reoffend, as so often happens. 

In what universe does that make sense? In one world, the child rapist walks the streets for months and years and costs the taxpayers a million dollars to try to incarcerate, and in the other, he is gone. And in neither case are his “due process” rights violated. All it would take to deport him is a deportation order. 

A similar argument is often made about arrests of “innocent” Americans caught up in dragnets. In almost none of these cases is the person actually “innocent.” They are impeding or even assaulting law enforcement, which is, in many cases, a felony. 

People seem to think that this is “First Amendment” activity. It is not. When Don Lemon and the crew invaded a church and disrupted a service, that is not a “protest;” it is a felony violation of the FACE Act. 

People are ignorant about what the law is, what is actually happening here, and how violent the protesters are, not only with federal agents but also with ordinary citizens suspected of being ICE. 

All of this could easily be avoided if Mayor Frey and Governor Walz simply handed over the illegal alien criminals they have in custody.
