New Audio Introduced From Accusers Throws Timothy Busfield Case Into Turmoil [WATCH]

Newly released police audio has introduced a significant development in the child sex abuse case involving actor Timothy Busfield, revealing that the underage twins accusing him of sexual misconduct initially told investigators that he did not touch them inappropriately, as reported by The New York Post.

The audio recordings, first obtained and published by TMZ, capture police interviews conducted in November 2024 with the twin boys, identified only by the initials VL and SL.

At the time of the interviews, the boys were 11-year-old child actors.

During the recorded questioning, a police officer explained boundaries to the children, asking, “You know no one can touch your private areas?” Both boys replied, “Yes,” according to the audio.

The officer then asked directly whether Busfield had ever touched their private parts. In response, both boys denied that any inappropriate touching had occurred.

“But he didn’t touch that part,” SL said in one clip.

“No, he’s never touched me,” VL said in a separate recording.

Busfield’s attorney played the audio in a New Mexico courtroom on Monday, describing the statements as an “unequivocal denial” of the allegations that Busfield touched the boys inappropriately.

The recordings were submitted ahead of a court hearing scheduled for Tuesday, where a judge is expected to determine whether the actor will be released on bail pending trial.

Busfield, best known for his role on the television series The West Wing, has denied the allegations.

His defense team argues that the police interviews directly contradict later claims made against him and should weigh heavily in the court’s evaluation of the case.

According to a criminal complaint cited in court filings, one of the boys later disclosed allegations of sexual abuse to a therapist.

The child’s mother reportedly told authorities that the boy claimed Busfield touched his penis and bottom, according to TMZ.

Defense attorneys for Busfield maintain that the initial police interviews are critical evidence. They argue that both boys clearly denied any abuse when first questioned by law enforcement and that those denials were not ambiguous.

Busfield’s legal team said prosecutors have taken a different view of the recordings.

According to the defense, prosecutors have argued that the audio only shows the boys failing to “disclose” abuse during the interviews, rather than affirmatively disproving the allegations.

The dispute over how the audio should be interpreted is expected to play a central role as the case moves forward.
