Border Patrol Commander Greg Bovino detailed two recent cases in Minneapolis involving individuals who crossed the U.S. border unlawfully, highlighting what he described as the downstream consequences of border enforcement failures and the impact on local communities.

Speaking about the first case, Bovino described an individual charged with cocaine trafficking and a controlled substance violation, identifying the suspect as someone who had entered the country illegally without being apprehended at the border.

“Charged with cocaine trafficking and a controlled substance violation. This is an interesting one, because this individual was what we would term, term as a golf, which is a gotaway across the border,” Bovino said.

“This individual crossed the border and was a golf, a gotaway, more than likely, over those past four years when we had millions crossing the border unabated, this is what we get in our communities.”

Bovino said the case illustrated how border security issues extend well beyond the border itself.

“What happens at the border does not stay at the border,” he said.

Bovino then turned to a second case involving an illegal alien from China who was arrested in Minneapolis.

According to Bovino, the individual faces serious charges related to the exploitation of children.

“And then we have Lin Lin Lee, an illegal alien from Red China. This individual is charged with child neglect and endangerment. Let me say that again, child neglect and endangerment and prostitution, an illegal alien walking the streets of Minneapolis,” Bovino said.

He emphasized the seriousness of the allegations and linked the case to broader concerns about child exploitation connected to illegal immigration.

“Now, we just talked children yesterday a little bit. Let’s talk a little more,” Bovino continued.

“Since we’ve got an illegal alien we just took off the streets of Minneapolis. That was someone engaged in child neglect and endangerment.”

Bovino used the arrests to highlight what he described as the Border Patrol’s extensive experience in dealing with cases involving children, particularly in the context of illegal crossings and human trafficking.

“Here in the US Border Patrol, I will say unequivocally that we are experts in dealing with children,” he said.

“Let me say that again, experts in dealing with children, not because we want to be, but because we have to be.”

According to Bovino, that experience stems from the scale of illegal crossings involving minors in recent years.

“Over those past four years, hundreds of 1000s of children were trafficked across that border,” he said.

“Guess who they came into contact with, sometimes, who was the very first law enforcement agency or American citizen that they saw us Border Patrol followed by our counterparts at immigration and customs enforcement.”

Bovino said the volume of child trafficking cases forced federal agents to develop specialized expertise, even as the circumstances remained deeply troubling.

“We’re definitely the experts at dealing with children, unfortunately, hundreds of 1000s under that last admin,” he said.
