White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt accused Minnesota Democratic leaders of deliberately obstructing federal law enforcement efforts, arguing that their actions created dangerous conditions for officers and the public while allowing violent criminals, including illegal aliens, to remain at large.
Leavitt said recent events in Minnesota were the direct result of sustained resistance by state and local officials.
“This tragedy occurred as a result of a deliberate and hostile resistance by Democrat leaders in Minnesota for weeks,” she said, naming Governor Tim Walz and Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey among those she blamed.

According to Leavitt, Minnesota Democrats have repeatedly attacked and undermined federal officers tasked with arresting violent offenders.
“Governor Walz and the mayor, Jacob Frey and other elected Democrats were spreading lies about federal law enforcement officers who are risking their lives daily to remove the worst criminal illegal aliens from our streets, murderers, rapists, pedophiles, human traffickers and gang members,” she said.
Leavitt accused Walz and Frey of actively preventing cooperation between local, state, and federal authorities. “Governor Walz and Mayor Frey have shamefully blocked local and state police from cooperating with ICE, actively inhibiting efforts to arrest violent criminals,” she said.
She also alleged that Minnesota leaders used their public platforms to encourage confrontations with federal agents.

“They have also used their platforms to encourage left wing agitators to stalk record, confront and obstruct Federal officers who are just trying to lawfully perform their duties,” Leavitt said.
She argued that these actions created serious public safety risks, adding that they “have created dangerous situations, threatening both these officers and the general public and Minnesotans alike.”
Leavitt said the consequences of those policies became evident during an incident in Minneapolis over the weekend.
“This is precisely what unfolded in Minneapolis on Saturday morning,” she said, adding that “obstructing federal law enforcement and inciting violence against officers is wrong and illegal.”
She said such conduct was once universally condemned in the United States.
“This used to be a universally accepted position in the United States,” Leavitt said, arguing that political hostility toward federal enforcement has replaced long-standing norms.
Leavitt also placed the Minnesota situation within the broader national immigration debate, pointing to policies enacted Joe Biden.
“Amid the hysteria, we must remember how we got here to this moment today, and what this Democrat opposition is about,” she said.
“Former President Joe Biden and the Democrats opened America’s borders for four years, inviting 10s of millions of illegal aliens from all over the world to flood into our country.”
According to Leavitt, that influx included violent criminals who have carried out serious crimes across the United States. She said those individuals “terrorized American communities and have inflicted devastating, permanent Pain and harm on law abiding Americans and their families.”
Leavitt criticized Democrats and the media for what she described as selective outrage, saying violent crimes committed by illegal aliens were routinely ignored.
“Yet we never saw outrage from Democrats or their allies in the liberal media over these horrifying crimes against US citizens,” she said.
She added that “the pain of American Angel families was ignored and dismissed because it undermined the Democrat narrative.”
She concluded by naming several victims she said exemplified the human cost of current immigration policies.
“Innocent Americans Like Jocelyn Nungaray, Laken Riley and Rachel Moran are just a few of the many victims savagely murdered by illegal alien criminals,” Leavitt said.
WATCH:
Leavitt’s remarks come as the Trump administration continues to press states and cities to cooperate fully with federal immigration enforcement and to condemn efforts that obstruct or endanger law enforcement officers carrying out their duties.
