A Southern California anti-ICE activist livestreamed her own arrest Friday after federal agents detained her while she was interfering with an Immigration and Customs Enforcement operation in Los Angeles County.
Maria Santay, who is affiliated with the far-left activist network known as ICE Out of LA, broadcast the encounter live on social media as federal agents took her into custody at a Chevron gas station in El Monte.
According to video footage shared online, Santay joined a group of activists who converged on the gas station while ICE agents were conducting enforcement activity nearby.

Members of the group attempted to disrupt the operation by blowing whistles and ringing cowbells in close proximity to federal vehicles and agents.
As agents approached her vehicle, Santay began shouting into her livestream.
“Don’t shoot at my window! What the f*ck!” Santay shouted as federal agents surrounded her car.
She continued addressing her followers while remaining inside the vehicle.

“Lord protect me, please!” Santy shouted as she cried during the livestream.
“These guys are breaking my windows, guys!” Santay shouts to her Instagram feed.
“They’re breaking my window guys, I’m a US citizen! Insane! This guy is breaking my window guys!”
Federal agents can be heard issuing commands as the situation escalated.
“Get out of the car! Out of the car!” federal agents shouted.
Santay repeatedly told viewers that she believed she was about to be arrested.
“They’re going to try to arrest me!” she repeated to her social media followers.
“This is insane. I can’t believe this is happening, guys! Lord, please protect me! Lord, please! Guys, I don’t trust them!”
Agents ultimately removed Santay from the vehicle and placed her under arrest.
Local law enforcement officers were present at the scene but did not interfere as federal agents completed the arrest and transported Santay to Santa Ana.
The arrest marked the latest confrontation between Santay and federal authorities.
Earlier in the week, Santay was detained by federal agents near the 10 Freeway after authorities alleged she had been following or monitoring ICE agents during enforcement operations.
Following that earlier incident, Santay gave an interview to ABC 7, where she claimed she feared she would be killed during the stop.
“I thought, This is it. “These are my last moments,” she said.
Santay described the positioning of vehicles during that encounter while speaking to the outlet.
“One of the officers got on the curb on the middle island to box my car in, one came on here, and one was behind me. Because of all the commotion, the police department got there,” she told ABC 7.
Federal officials have not released additional details about the earlier stop beyond confirming that agents were conducting enforcement-related activity in the area at the time.
No injuries were reported during either encounter.
Following Friday’s arrest in El Monte, Santay was transported by federal authorities to Santa Ana for processing.
According to law enforcement officials, she was charged with resisting arrest.
The incident comes amid continued enforcement actions by federal immigration authorities across Southern California, where organized activist groups have increasingly attempted to track, disrupt, or livestream ICE activity in real time.
