The following morning, Wednesday at approximately 9:20 a.m., deputies said Scarlett entered the Murphy Oil gas station located at 9558 SW Highway 200.
MCSO stated that Scarlett “[once] again held the cashier at gunpoint while demanding money,” marking the third armed robbery attributed to him in just over 24 hours.
Following the gas station robbery, investigators received information from a witness who observed the suspect leaving the scene.
The witness provided details about the vehicle used during the escape, which helped deputies identify Scarlett as the suspect.
Marion County Sheriff’s Office deputies coordinated with officers from the Ocala Police Department to locate Scarlett and the vehicle.
Law enforcement later spotted the vehicle traveling westbound on NW 8th Street toward NW Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue.
When deputies and officers attempted to initiate a traffic stop, Scarlett allegedly refused to comply and fled, leading law enforcement on a pursuit through Ocala.
During the chase, Scarlett’s vehicle collided with a power pole at the intersection of NW 9th Avenue and NW 6th Street.
Authorities said he was apprehended without further incident following the crash.
After taking Scarlett into custody, deputies conducted an interior search of the vehicle.
According to MCSO, law enforcement discovered “cocaine and K2, a synthetic cannabinoid,” inside the vehicle.
Scarlett was transported to the Marion County Jail, where he was booked and remains in custody without bond.
Jail records show that Scarlett is facing multiple felony charges stemming from the robberies, pursuit, and arrest.
Authorities said Scarlett has been charged with three counts of robbery with a firearm, four counts of possession of a weapon or ammunition by a convicted felon, aggravated fleeing to elude law enforcement with property damage, possession of cocaine, possession of a synthetic cannabinoid, and driving while license suspended or revoked.
The Marion County Sheriff’s Office has not released additional details regarding Scarlett’s prior criminal history beyond the charges indicating he is a convicted felon.
Investigators have also not indicated whether additional victims or related incidents are under review.
According to jail records, a court date for Scarlett has not yet been scheduled.
He remains held at the Marion County Jail as the case proceeds through the judicial system.
Law enforcement officials credited coordination between county deputies and city police officers for bringing the series of robberies to an end without further injuries.
