White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said this week that Tom Homan has successfully executed President Trump’s immigration enforcement priorities in Minnesota, pointing to what she described as unprecedented cooperation from state and local officials.
Leavitt outlined the administration’s approach and credited Homan with delivering results on the ground after being deployed to the state.
“We have seen on the ground there, and he deployed Tom Homan to the state to do it, and Tom Homan has delivered on that mission. Two very important points. Number one, Tom Homan and President Trump have achieved an unprecedented level of cooperation from state and local officials in Minnesota; nearly every single county has now agreed to notify ICE when they are releasing criminal illegal aliens from their jails. This creates a safer law enforcement environment for everyone, and it requires less manpower to detain these illegal aliens on the ground.”

Leavitt said the cooperation from counties across Minnesota marks a significant development in how immigration enforcement is carried out, particularly when it involves individuals already in local custody. According to her remarks, nearly every county in the state now alerts ICE when criminal illegal aliens are being released, allowing federal authorities to take custody in a more controlled setting.
She argued that the coordination improves officer safety and increases efficiency by reducing the need for agents to locate individuals after release.
Leavitt also addressed efforts to curb disruptions tied to enforcement operations.
“And the number two in his discussions, Mr. Homan, was also able to achieve a level of cooperation with local police to arrest left wing agitators when they are engaged in unlawful behavior, which has led to calmer situation on the ground, you’re no longer seeing videos of these agitators engaging in unlawful activity to break up ISIS operations, which, again, are continuing.”

She said the additional cooperation with local police has resulted in fewer public disruptions during enforcement activity and described the overall situation as calmer than before.
Leavitt emphasized that the administration’s immigration policy remains focused on targeted enforcement aimed at serious offenders.
“Nothing will ever stop President Trump and this administration from targeted immigration enforcement focusing on the worst of the worst criminals in American communities, and that includes in Minnesota.”

Her comments framed the Minnesota effort as consistent with President Trump’s broader immigration platform, which centers on cooperation with local authorities and prioritizing the removal of criminal illegal aliens.
