White House Deputy Chief of Staff for Policy Stephen Miller rejected claims that President Donald Trump’s recent comments about Supreme Court justices endangered their safety, instead directing criticism at Democratic leaders and the media.
During a segment with Fox News host Laura Ingraham, the discussion centered on accusations that the President’s language could increase threats against members of the high court.
“Stephen, Democrats, media types are saying the President is endangering the lives of Supreme Court justices by the language he used to describe them today,” Ingraham said.

“There they should be ashamed of themselves, embarrassments,” she added.
“Just, you know, I don’t know if you use the word disgrace,” Ingraham continued.
“And that was a big topic of conversation, that this is going to increase the threats against justices to that you say?” she asked.
Miller responded by pointing to past remarks made by Senate Democratic leadership.

“Chuck Schumer infamously stood in front of the Supreme Court and issued a direct threat to our justices,” Miller said.
“After that threat was issued, we saw assassination attempts and violence against our justices,” he added.
“We saw the Merrick Garland Justice Department refused to stop and prosecute and disband the groups that were illegally demonstrating outside the homes of conservative Supreme Court justices in violation of federal law,” Miller said.
“Is against federal law to illegally demonstrate outside of the home of a judge to try to influence a ruling,” he continued.
“It’s the same group of people who have fanned the flames of assassination all over this country,” Miller said.
He then contrasted the administration’s actions with what he described as Democratic conduct.
“This administration, under President Trump, has moved heaven and earth to find the domestic extremists in this country who are trying to kidnap, murder and assassin and bring them to justice,” Miller said.
“While the left, being good communist has done everything in their power to foment violence and foment hatred and foment unrest,” he added.
“You will never get a cleaner contrast,” Miller said.
“You want safe streets, you want criminals behind bars,” he continued.
“You want to support the police,” Miller said.
“You want to support law enforcement,” he added.
“That’s President Trump,” Miller said.
“The Democrats are the party of violence,” he concluded.
“President Trump is the president of law, order and safety,” Miller said.
Ingraham closed the segment with a brief remark.
“Stephen, what a day,” she said.
