Singer Usher is speaking publicly about Sean “Diddy” Combs, saying the music executive’s legacy should remain intact despite his 2025 conviction and ongoing legal battle, as reported by TMZ.

In a recent interview with Forbes, Usher addressed Combs’ legal situation while reflecting on his personal experiences with the hip-hop figure.

Combs is currently serving a prison sentence of more than four years after being convicted in 2025 on two counts of transporting people across state lines for the purposes of prostitution.

He is also pursuing an appeal of the sentence, which was handed down in October 2025.

During the interview, Usher told journalist Jabari Young that he believes some public figures are treated unfairly in the legal system, stating, “certain people are prosecuted and maybe not recognized for the greatness that they offer.”

He also addressed his personal relationship with Combs, saying, “I don’t have anything negative to say about Sean Combs. My experience was not what the world has seen and how he’s been, you know, misrepresented.”

Usher’s comments come as Combs continues to face scrutiny following his conviction.

While acknowledging that Combs is not without flaws, Usher emphasized that the music executive’s accomplishments over the course of his career should still be recognized.

Usher did not suggest that Combs was without fault but indicated that the public narrative surrounding him does not fully reflect his own experience working with the artist and producer.

Combs responded to Usher’s remarks through his spokesperson, Juda Engelmayer, who told TMZ:

“I’ve always had love and respect for Usher. I appreciate his words and everything he’s achieved.”

The two artists have a longstanding relationship that dates back to Usher’s early career. Usher first met Combs as a teenager, and in 1994, he moved in with him as the two developed both a personal and professional connection.

Combs later served as an executive producer on Usher’s self-titled debut album, helping launch the singer’s career in the music industry.

Usher’s remarks highlight that connection, as he reflected on his direct experience with Combs rather than broader public criticism tied to the criminal case.

Combs, a prominent figure in hip-hop and entertainment, has faced multiple legal challenges in recent years.

His conviction in 2025 marked a significant development in those cases, resulting in a prison sentence of more than four years.

The appeal process remains ongoing as Combs seeks to challenge the outcome of his case.

Usher’s interview adds to the public discussion surrounding Combs’ legacy, particularly as the case continues to move through the legal system and as reactions from figures within the music industry emerge.
