Penny Lancaster is speaking publicly about her long-running relationship with singer Rod Stewart, offering details about how the couple has maintained their marriage after more than two decades together, as reported by Fox News.

In a recent interview with Best Magazine, Lancaster, 55, discussed her 26-year partnership with Stewart, including 18 years of marriage.

The couple first met in 1999 when Lancaster was a student at Barking College. They married in 2007 and share two sons, Alastair Wallace and Aiden Patrick. At the time of their marriage, Stewart was already a father of six children.

Reflecting on the length of their relationship, Lancaster said, “Yes, 26 years! I deserve a medal, don’t I? Only joking.”

Here’s What They’re Not Telling You About Your Retirement

Lancaster described how she and Stewart prioritize time together despite managing a blended family and busy schedules. She said the couple makes a consistent effort to maintain connection through everyday routines and shared experiences.

“We don’t take each other for granted and make sure we have date nights together … dinner, the theatre or whatever, doing the school run together and having an ‘a deux’ coffee on the way home, long romantic walks together,” she said.

“We flirt with each other and make each other laugh.”

According to Lancaster, maintaining those habits has helped sustain their relationship over time. She also emphasized the importance of recognizing milestones and continuing traditions that hold meaning for both of them.

“We’re big on celebrating our anniversaries and really spoil each other,” she said.

“For instance, for our last wedding anniversary, we took a very romantic train trip from Paris to Portofino because Rod proposed to me in Paris and we got married in Portofino. We love reminiscing about our life together and also making plans for the future — more romantic trips.”

Lancaster said these shared experiences help reinforce their connection while also providing opportunities to reflect on their relationship history.

She indicated that revisiting meaningful locations, such as Paris and Portofino, plays a role in how the couple maintains a sense of continuity.

In addition to spending time together, Lancaster pointed to another factor she believes contributes to the longevity of their marriage: time apart.

She said maintaining independence within the relationship is an important component in keeping their connection strong.

Lancaster stated that having “time apart” is what really “keeps the spark alive.”

The couple’s relationship has spanned more than two decades, during which both have balanced family responsibilities with professional commitments.

Lancaster’s comments offer insight into how they manage those demands while maintaining their marriage.
