Too Good to Be True? Israel Suggests That Popular Iranian Spokesman Is AI

AI is the hot new thing, and Iran has been using quite a bit of it in the propaganda war against the United States and Israel. 

Iranian Lego memes are all the rage, with the regime trying to make fun of Americans and our military, and the Iranian regime even put out an AI-generated video of Jesus Himself slapping Trump around.

The irony of that one is thick. Jesus acting like a Muslim, using violence. At least it wasn’t a suicide vest. 

American pundits love that Iran is using AI to ridicule Trump, because there is nothing more on-brand for a liberal to side with inherently nasty and violent people when they are promoting violence against Americans, and especially Trump.

Scott Jennings SHATTERS the narrative of former Obama staffer Nayyera Haq after she tries to argue Iran is winning through mimetic warfare.

“Do you think the Iranians would rather have their ENTIRE navy back or their memes?”

“And so they had, for all of our talk on our side, of all the people killed in the regime, they have been pushing out through multiple channels around the world, images of the American army generals…”

Jennings lets her finish before landing the haymaker.

JENNINGS: “Do you think the Iranians would rather have their ENTIRE navy back or their memes?”

[Laughs in her face]

“I mean come on! We have destroyed 13,000 military targets, and they have memes?!”

So should it surprise us that the Israelis are accusing the Iranians of trotting out an AI-generated “spokesman” to further their propaganda war? After all, they already have a “Weekend at Bernie’s” Supreme Leader, so trotting out a modern version of Max Headroom to speak his words only makes sense.

Are the regime loyalists forced to create fictional characters to speak to the public?

And what does that say about the credibility of their messages?

Israel is not exactly claiming that they KNOW that Zolfaghari is a computer creation—they leave open the possibility that he is just a human being who looks and acts fake. 

An Iranian regime military spokesman has an army of fans, but is he real, or an Artificial Intelligence-generated depiction of a man killed a while back in American-Israeli strikes?

Despite suspicion that he is dead, the spokesman for the united command of Iran’s military forces, Lieutenant Colonel Ebrahim Zolfaghari, keeps popping up on local television stations and across the web. A charismatic, fatigue-clad personality, the military man threatens American forces in the region with the worst punishment and trolls President Trump and other officials. 

There is no confirmation of a widely spread assertion across the web that Colonel Zolfaghari was killed in a joint American-Israeli strike on March 7. No official Iranian obituary has been issued. Yet now the Israel Defense Forces adds its voice to a growing chorus of skeptics, challenging Iranian followers to prove that Colonel Zolfaghari is alive. 

It’s all part of mimetic warfare, which is currently just about everything Iran has besides a few drones and a burning hope that Europeans and American liberals can pull their chestnuts out of the fire. And making boastful memes seems to be the tool they hope to use. 

It apparently impresses the folks at CNN. And apparently quite a few non-lesbian lefties. Apparently there still are some. 

Iranians claim hackers from Communist China are responsible for creating Colonel Zolfaghari’s AI messages to fit the regime’s propaganda. They note that the language in his speeches is too formal for a native Farsi speaker. The backdrop to the videos is always black, presumably to avoid detection of location and time. Observers note that the regime’s Iranian flag displayed in the videos seems penned-in, rather than real.    

“Hey Trump, you’re fired,” Colonel Zolfaghari said in a recent video, speaking in English with a heavy Persian accent. “You’re familiar with this phrase. Thank you for your attention to this matter.” Another video, in a heavy-accented Hebrew, quotes a Biblical passage from the Book of Ezekiel.  

Colonel Zolfaghari, or his AI-self, serves as spokesman for Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters, which unifies the Iranian Army, Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps, and other arms of the country’s military. In addition to video postings, he maintains an X account, @Irantimes01, which boasts 31,000 followers.  

“If the U.S. blockade persists, we will halt all trade in the Arabian Gulf and Arabian Sea,” the colonel posted in English on Thursday. “If it continues, Red Sea shipping will also be stopped. Such actions will be seen as a step toward violating the ceasefire.” Skeptics, though, note that no one in the country would say Arabian Gulf, which Iranians know as the Persian Gulf.

Regardless, Colonel Zolfaghari has amassed a huge following across the region and in the West. “A lot of American women are in love with this guy,” a correspondent for the London-based Iran International, Negar Mojtahedi, tells The New York Sun. “It’s really disturbing and disgusting to see that, you know, obviously non-Iranian women in the West are falling for these types of characters.”

It would be hilarious to see this Colonel, if he were alive, break cover just to prove his bona fides. He could pop out of his bunker just long enough to see the hellfire missile headed his way.
