California’s Democratic gubernatorial candidate Katie Porter has managed to do what many on the right have been saying for years: she finally admitted the truth the left refuses to say out loud.
During a televised debate this week, Porter stunned Californians by openly stating that illegal immigrants are the reason the Golden State’s population is still growing, as reported by Fox News.

Her comment instantly set off a firestorm on social media, with critics accusing her of admitting the “quiet part out loud.”
When asked whether she would cooperate with federal authorities to deport illegal immigrants, Porter took an unequivocal stance.
Here’s What They’re Not Telling You About Your Retirement
She declared that California’s sanctuary state policies are designed to prevent state resources from aiding immigration enforcement.
“These are Californians. They contribute to our economy. They pay taxes. And they’re one of the only ways that our state has been growing in recent years,” she said, attempting to frame illegal immigration as an economic boon.
That admission struck a nerve, especially with voters already frustrated by California’s skyrocketing taxes, homelessness, and cost of living.
Conservative commentator Gunther Eagleman wrote that Porter’s statement exposed “the quiet part out loud,” confirming that the state’s leadership is counting on illegal immigration to mask its population decline.

The stinging observation reflected a common sentiment on the right: Democrats have turned California into a social experiment—and now rely on illegal immigration to keep it afloat.
Former President Donald Trump and other Republicans have long argued that Democrats oppose deportation not out of compassion but out of political calculus.
The population numbers from the Census determine how many seats each state gets in Congress. Noncitizens are included in that count, meaning states like California benefit from large numbers of illegal residents.
One user on X quipped, “So she’s saying Cali has too many seats in the House?”—a line that perfectly captured the outrage felt by those tired of Democrats using migration as political leverage.

The numbers only reinforce that point. Between 2021 and 2023, an estimated 400,000 illegal immigrants entered California, according to the Public Policy Institute of California.
In that same time frame, the state’s overall population barely budged—growing by under 20,000.
California’s Department of Finance revealed that while the state lost more than 215,000 people to domestic migration in 2025, it gained nearly 125,000 through foreign migration.
The result is a state hollowed out from within. Residents are leaving, taking their wealth and businesses with them, while state leaders like Porter celebrate the inflow of people who crossed the border illegally.
As one social media user jabbed, “California is cooked: Katie Porter says criminal illegal aliens are ‘one of the only ways California has been growing in recent years.’ Democrats have been in total control of California for the past 16 years.”

That blunt assessment mirrors the frustration of many Californians who’ve had enough of policy failures wrapped in woke talking points.
Republican candidate Chad Bianco, the Riverside County Sheriff running against Porter, didn’t miss the chance to hammer her remarks.
Bianco said her statements “reveal entitlement and narcissism,” adding that the priorities of California’s ruling class are far removed from the people they claim to represent.
Thats because all the billionaires, millionaires big business and anyone that can afford it is leaving Calinfornia faster than you pouring a pot of boiling hot potatoes on your ex partners head https://t.co/ZhiBuYIIml

Known for his tough stance on law enforcement and illegal immigration, Bianco has positioned himself as the voice of the fed-up taxpayer.
Critics note that Porter’s claim about illegal migrants bolstering California’s economy ignores reality. While groups like the Institute on Taxation and Economic Policy claim illegal immigrants contributed $8.5 billion in taxes in 2022, many economists point out that their use of public services—from schools to healthcare—far exceeds that figure.
Senator Mike Lee of Utah weighed in, writing, “If you think the best way to promote economic growth involves letting in illegal aliens, you’re doing it wrong.”

Adding insult to injury, studies have shown that illegal immigration increases the cost of living by driving up demand for housing, especially in already overcrowded cities like Los Angeles and San Francisco.
Yet Democrats continue to defend policies that put their citizens last, rewarding those who break the law while punishing law-abiding taxpayers.
Meanwhile, California’s budget remains stretched thin by billions in healthcare subsidies for illegal immigrants, a cost only growing each year.
That burden lands squarely on those who still live and work in the state, many of whom already feel squeezed by inflation and high taxes. Porter’s attempt to paint illegal migration as an economic boost only made that hypocrisy more glaring.
Her broader message, that illegal immigrants are now “Californians,” served as both a political gamble and a revealing confession.
It suggested that Democrats no longer distinguish between citizens and noncitizens, an alarming notion for a state that once prided itself on opportunity and the rule of law.
Porter’s remarks have turned into a defining moment of her campaign, one that Republicans will likely use as a bludgeon in the months ahead.
For a state already reeling from population loss, failing infrastructure, and economic decline, telling voters that the solution lies in more illegal immigration may prove to be the most “quiet part out loud” moment yet in California politics.
