Filmmaker Adam McKay launched a fierce attack against top figures in the Democratic Party, including Kamala Harris, the Clintons, Barack Obama, and Joe Biden.

The Anchorman and Don’t Look Up director accused them of corruption and hypocrisy while labeling “white liberals” as the worst group of all.

Speaking in a long interview with climate-focused podcaster Jesse Damiani, McKay expressed disbelief that the Democratic Party continues to draw voter support.

He claimed the party had “sold us out” through what he described as “abject corruption.”

McKay argued that Democrats take more unaccountable financing than their opponents, claiming, “Kamala Harris took eight times more dark money than Trump.”

He said this showed how deeply tied the party was to what he called pro-Israel and corporate interests.

He also criticized the former president, Joe Biden, for failing to declare a climate emergency while in office, saying that Biden “blew his chance as a lame duck president.”

According to McKay, the Democratic leadership had squandered multiple opportunities to enact strong environmental policy.

Turning his attention to Hillary Clinton, McKay repeated his assertion that she “literally funded Trump’s campaign,” linking this to what he saw as a broader pattern of corruption in Democratic politics.

He additionally described Bill Clinton as “a straight-up serial rapist,” an accusation that underscored the raw anger running through his remarks.

McKay reserved some of his strongest criticism for Barack Obama, referring to him as “a creep” who had caused “damage to the country.”

He suggested that the successes of personalities like Obama and Clinton had come at the cost of genuine progressive change.

Throughout the interview, McKay returned to his frustration with Democrats’ inaction on climate issues.

“They are the worst,” he said, claiming he had tried to engage party members about environmental reforms.

In his words, “They are so smug and captured. And really, it boils down to privilege.”

He argued that wealthy white Democrats, in particular, benefit from the very system they claim to oppose.

Calling conversations with them “bad faith arguments,” McKay said he had stopped trying to persuade them years ago, the same way he had given up on Republicans in the mid-2000s.

McKay also denounced the Democratic Party’s lack of support for universal health care.

“You can’t support a party that doesn’t want universal health care,” he stated, pointing out that figures such as Kamala Harris and Hillary Clinton did not make it part of their platforms.

He claimed such a position would be unthinkable in other Western democracies.

Continuing his critique, McKay said, “The U.S. is essentially an island country and no group of people has heads full of bees more than white liberals.”

He accused them of putting social comfort and image over substance, describing them as more concerned with “alumni cocktail hours” than addressing climate realities.

He argued that establishment Democrats had laid the groundwork for the modern Republican Party, pointing to the presidencies of Bill Clinton and Barack Obama as examples.

“The level of damage those creeps have done to our country” was, in his view, immense.

McKay concluded that “white liberals don’t even want to hear about it because it’s inconvenient and unpleasant.”

He expressed open disdain for them, saying, “I almost can say I despise American white liberals. They are the grossest of the gross.”

His criticism extended beyond politics to the media landscape, singling out journalists like Ezra Klein and outlets including Vox, The New York Times, The Washington Post, MSNBC, and CNN.

He described them as “totally captured,” suggesting that major media operate in service of corporate and political interests rather than truth.

In the same interview, McKay offered speculation on the Palisades fire, implying oil companies may bear responsibility and accusing corporations of misleading the public about possible arson.

The conversation reflected McKay’s continuing break from mainstream political alignment, focusing his anger chiefly on those he sees as progressive in name only.

His remarks showed a deep disillusionment with the Democratic Party and white liberal culture alike.
