DHS Publicly Smacks Down Hakeem Jeffries and Democrats Over Newark ICE Facility Meltdown [WATCH]

Democrats thought they could march into an ICE detention facility, wag their fingers, and sell another sob story about “immigrant mistreatment.”

What they got instead was a sharp and much-needed reality check from the very department they were trying to shame.

Anti-ICE agitators have caused chaos for days outside the Delaney Hall ICE facility in Newark, New Jersey, attacking and threatening law enforcement.

Democrat politicians joined in, showing up to stoke the flames while claiming they were simply there for “oversight.”

It got so bad that even New Jersey’s Democrat governor, Mikie Sherill, was forced to deploy state police and impose a city curfew to contain the mess her own party helped escalate.

As the situation began to calm, House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries of New York decided to make a grand entrance, leading a group of fellow Democrats for a photo-op disguised as an official visit.

Instead of offering support for law enforcement officers under siege, Jeffries used his time to pander to the mob, insisting that Delaney Hall should be shut down entirely.

Jeffries claimed he spoke to individuals inside who lacked criminal records and complained about food and medical care.

He somberly declared, “That’s not America,” before theatrically demanding that “every single member” connected to the facility be held accountable. Then, never missing a chance to bring up former President Trump, he threatened that “every single member of this Trump administration is going to be held accountable.”

That kind of empty posturing might play well on MSNBC, but it did not sit well with the Department of Homeland Security, which proceeded to school Jeffries on X with a dose of law and logic.

In a direct response, DHS reminded him, “DHS doesn’t make the laws, Congress does. We don’t pick and choose which laws to enforce, and neither should you as a lawmaker.”

In case the congressional delegation needed a refresher, DHS added, “It is a crime to enter the United States illegally. Everyone being held inside Delaney Hall broke the law.”

The agency made clear the purpose of the facility: “This is a detention center, we do not provide luxury accommodations. What we do provide are basic necessities like beds, clean water, comprehensive healthcare, and three meals a day until they go home.”

They finished with a simple statement that sent the left into a tailspin: “If you come to our country illegally, we will find you and arrest you. We encourage all illegal aliens to self-deport today.”

That is how you handle grandstanding politicians who think laws are optional if they conflict with the week’s progressive talking points.

The beauty of DHS’s message is that it exposed everything wrong with the Democrat narrative.

Members of Congress craft the laws being enforced, yet some,like Jeffries, pretend to be shocked when agencies do their jobs.

The truth is that no evidence shows mistreatment at Delaney Hall.

In fact, DHS has publicly released photos of food served there that look far better than what many taxpayers put on their dinner tables.

Detainees also have access to a commissary where, according to reports, they can buy snacks like Doritos and honey buns.

Hardly the picture of humanitarian crisis Democrats are peddling.

But facts are inconvenient to the left’s immigration narrative.

This outrage theater is not about protecting anyone’s rights, it is about dismantling deportations entirely.

Democrats can’t bring themselves to admit that crossing into the United States illegally is, in fact, a crime.

Instead, they work overtime to paint law enforcement as villains and illegal border crossers as helpless victims of Trump-era cruelty.

Jeffries and his fellow travelers also refuse to confront one awkward historical tidbit.

The private company operating Delaney Hall today, GEO Group, also ran the same facility during Barack Obama’s presidency.

Back then, Democrats were silent because enforcing immigration law was still considered normal.

GEO Group pointed this out last year, noting that “city officials didn’t object when the Obama administration operated the facility as an ICE processing center.”

So what changed? The occupant of the Oval Office did. Once President Trump began enforcing existing laws, the left suddenly decided that detention facilities were “inhumane.”

The hypocrisy is blinding.

If Democrats truly object to detention centers, they could easily fix the problem by agreeing to faster deportations.

But that would require admitting that sovereign nations have the right to enforce borders, a concept the modern Democrat Party finds deeply offensive.

Instead, they prefer chaos, slogans, and street theater while ignoring the victims of crimes committed by those who broke America’s immigration laws in the first place.

DHS’s firm public response was not only justified but long overdue.

Sometimes the best lesson for out-of-touch politicians is a straightforward one: obey the laws you write.

Law enforcement officials have a duty to protect American sovereignty, not to bend to mobs or political stunts.

The left wanted a headline about cruelty at an ICE facility. Instead, they got a headline about their own ignorance, courtesy of the Department of Homeland Security.

If only more federal agencies reminded Democrats how laws actually work, perhaps there would be a little less noise and a lot more law and order.
