Anti-Gunners Taking the Mask Off More and More Often

For years, gun control supporters tried to argue that they didn’t want to interfere with your right to keep and bear arms. They just wanted some laws that might delay you buying a gun, but would supposedly keep the criminals from getting them.

Of course, we know that was always a load of BS. They don’t like people buying guns at all, and they want to do everything they can to discourage gun ownership. If they can’t ban it, they want to demonize guns while also making it as difficult as possible to get one, all so that the population is just as disarmed as if they’d gotten their dream and banned everything.

Oh, they’ll deny that’s the thing, but the truth of the matter is that more and more anti-gunners are publicly admitting where they stand on the issue.

In 2023, Gabby Giffords said, “No more guns.” They tried to spin it, but it was there for the world to see.

Last month, she took issue with the gun industry marketing to Asian and Pacific Islanders, who have been the subject of hate crimes, all because it meant more people buying guns. 

Back in April, Po Murray of the Newtown Action Alliance dropped the pretenses and called on her fellow travelers to admit it’s about gun control. Not “gun safety” or any other euphemism.

Now, out of Akron, Ohio, we’ve got an op-ed that admits what she wants is to discourage gun ownership.

Every time gun violence comes up in the news, I ask myself the same question: When will enough be enough?

Because never in a single conversation about firearms do I hear a convincing enough reason to accept the status quo.

Now, when we have entire conferences surrounding how to reduce youth violence with strategies that teach kids how to avoid injury, because teaching adults is not enough.

Now, when we have the sounds of gunfire ringing through city streets every night, with accidental shots regularly making their way through houses and somehow, even up to the seventh floor of our office building.

Yes, there is an individual responsibility component to the firearm discussion. But it isn’t enough.

What we desperately need to reduce gun violence are laws that prevent so many people from owning them in the first place.

The author, Theresa Bennett, goes on to talk about accidental (read: negligent) shootings, because that’s something that no one is going to excuse in any way.

However, I’m going to note that “accidental” shootings only account for one percent or so of all gun-related deaths in this country, at most. Meanwhile, firearms are used to protect human life over 2 million times per year. It seems to me that if you’re part of the “if it saves one life” crowd, it’s hard to say that this is a pressing issue that overrides any good that comes for owing a firearm.

But I respect that Bennett has the courage to step up and admit that what she wants is to prevent normal, law-abiding citizens from being able to own guns. I don’t agree with her in the least, mind you, but while her allies in the gun control bunch are tripping over themselves pretending they actually don’t want to take our guns away, she’s got the guts to step up and admit that what she wants is more and more people prevented from owning a firearm and damn whatever the Second Amendment says.

She’s the latest to take the mask off and admit that everything anti-gunners have been saying for years is absolute BS, and they really do want everything we said they wanted. 

How long before the rest of them admit it?

More importantly, will the press stop pretending that we’re paranoid when we tell them that this is the game they’re playing? Probably not, because they’re running interference for these people, but the truth of the matter is that we can see them even more clearly now than we did before.
