Stefon Diggs was once regarded as one of the most impactful pass catchers in the National Football League.

The passage of time combined with a history of distractions off the field may have limited his options with teams around the league.

Despite that, he is still arguably the best wide receiver available in free agency.

With OTAs and minicamp complete, some organizations might consider signing him.

Here’s What They’re Not Telling You About Your Retirement

CBS Sports’ John Breech believes that it is only a matter of time before Diggs secures a new deal. Breech identified two Super Bowl contenders and one playoff hopeful as the teams most likely to pursue him.

The first team mentioned was the Washington Commanders. Breech explained that they need another wide receiver to line up opposite Terry McLaurin after letting Deebo Samuel walk.

“The Commanders could use another wide receiver,” Breech wrote. “Diggs is also a DMV man and played his high school ball 13 miles north of Washington D.C. before starring at the University of Maryland.”

The Baltimore Ravens were the second team Breech linked to Diggs. He pointed to the Ravens’ past willingness to take chances on veteran wide receivers as a potential reason for the fit.

“We can keep with the Maryland theme here and talk about the Baltimore Ravens, who have been a favorite landing spot for several notable veteran wideouts such as DeAndre Hopkins, Odell Beckham Jr. and DeSean Jackson,” Breech noted.

Breech’s third potential destination for Diggs was the Los Angeles Rams. He highlighted the organization’s tendency to make aggressive moves in pursuit of another Super Bowl appearance.

“The Rams had the No. 1 offense in the league last year with MVP quarterback Matthew Stafford and star wideouts Puka Nacua and Davante Adams,” Breech wrote. “Despite that talented room, the Rams showed interest in A.J. Brown earlier this offseason, so they could still be in the market for a new weapon.”

According to the report, expecting Diggs to produce another 100-catch, 1200-yard season like he did in his prime would not be realistic at this point. Still, he continues to demonstrate value on the field.

Diggs recorded a 1,000-yard season most recently and contributed to the New England Patriots’ run to the Super Bowl last year. Those accomplishments illustrate that he remains a capable performer for a contending team.

The CBS Sports analysis framed Washington, Baltimore, and Los Angeles as the strongest fits for his services. Breech went out of his way to emphasize Diggs’ deep ties to the Maryland area and his familiarity with the local football community.

Washington’s lack of a consistent receiver opposite McLaurin was portrayed as a key factor in why Diggs could make sense there. Meanwhile, Baltimore’s approach of bringing in veteran wideouts fits his profile.

The Rams’ situation offered another intriguing angle. Breech’s comments regarding their previous interest in A.J. Brown suggested Los Angeles still may want to add another offensive weapon even after leading the league in offensive output.

Diggs’ name continues to surface in connection with these three teams, illustrating the interest that remains in his services despite questions about his consistency or locker room presence.

As teams prepare for the upcoming phase of roster construction, Breech’s prediction places Diggs among the top remaining names to watch in free agency.
