Investigative journalist Catherine Herridge said a senior member of Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard’s investigative team described what the official believes was a pattern within the U.S. intelligence community that affected how information reached policymakers and President Donald Trump.

Herridge said she has spent the past week speaking with a high-ranking member of Gabbard’s investigative unit, known as the DIG, about its ongoing work.

“In the last week, I’ve been speaking with a very senior member of Director Gabbard’s investigations team, known as the Dig,” Herridge said.

According to Herridge, the official described a mindset that allegedly existed among some intelligence personnel during Trump’s first administration.

“What they told me is that they did see a pattern where there was a sense or a feeling in the intelligence community that they just knew better,” she said.

Herridge said the official claimed some intelligence officials believed they needed to intervene because they viewed the president’s instincts as misguided.

“They had to save President Trump from his own instincts, from his own tendencies,” Herridge said.

She added that the source also described what was characterized as a broader ideological perspective within parts of the intelligence bureaucracy.

“There was very much a globalist view, and they had to preserve a globalist view,” Herridge said.

According to Herridge, the official cited multiple examples of how that alleged mindset influenced the handling of intelligence.

“So whether it was downplaying or suppressing intelligence about the threat from China,” she said, “whether it was giving a pass and calling the Hunter Biden laptop Russian disinformation,” the same pattern was evident.

Herridge said the source believes those actions reflected more than isolated decisions.

“There was this level of a bureaucracy, a kind of conspiracy that was making decisions about the kind of information that should be reaching policymakers and ultimately the commander in chief,” she said.

Herridge’s comments summarized what she said she was told by a senior member of Gabbard’s investigative team regarding its findings.

According to Herridge, the official described an intelligence bureaucracy that allegedly influenced the flow of information reaching senior government leaders based on what the source characterized as institutional judgments rather than allowing intelligence to reach policymakers without those internal decisions.
