“Friday Night Lights” star Adrianne Palicki found something in Texas that she knew Hollywood would never give her.

During an interview with Fox News Digital at a special fan screening celebrating 20 years of the iconic show — hosted by Plex and ATX TV, Palicki explained that she found “heart,” which she did not have while living in the “negativity” of Los Angeles.

“Heart. Not a lot of my friends are actually even in the industry, but it does give us creative freedom and now there’s a huge industry starting to pick up there,” she began, referring to Austin, Texas. “We’re able to make the movies we wanna make.”

The actress explained that in LA, it requires a lot of money to make movies. “And in Austin, you can get together with your friends and you can. You know, scrape it up, and you just make whatever you want to make and I think that’s really special,” Palicki said.

She explained that she decided to make the move thanks to filming “Friday Night Lights.” Palicki told Fox News Digital that after shooting the pilot, she fully moved to Texas and initially would stay with Connie Britton, who played Tami Taylor on the hit show.

“I think getting outside of the element that can be sometimes negative in LA, where we’re all vying for the same thing,” she said of her decision to move. Speaking of Texas, Palicki said, “It’s just a very positive environment and community.”

“Friday Night Lights” premiered in 2006 and Plex and ATX TV are celebrating 20 years. Plex and ATX hosted this event as part of a nationwide road trip to celebrate the show’s 20th anniversary. They have upcoming stops in New York and Kansas City.

“I think it was the start of a very interesting shooting process. I don’t know if I can speak for everybody else, but it changed my life, it changed my way of acting, it made me be able to have instincts, which not a lot of actors get,” she began.

“We don’t get the freedom of that. We’re told where to go, where to stand, whatever, no marks. Being able to improv, trusting the writers, trusting our fellow actors, all cameras on you at one time. It’s something that’s very special, and it changed television forever,” Palicki continued. “And people try to copy it, but I think it’s just a very special show.”
