I get that the United States isn’t always everyone’s favorite country. When you’re on top of the heap, you’re going to attract some haters. Ask me how I know. OK, I read it somewhere. Cut me some slack.
So I’m not surprised that an American consulate had a shot taken at it, nor that it happened in an anti-gun country.
Of course, compared to us, everyone is anti-gun. Some suck less than others, but none of them really view gun rights as something to be preserved. We don’t do as good a job on that as we could, but we’re still the top of the heap in that one, too.
Canada, on the other hand, used to show at least some respect for gun rights, even if they didn’t acknowledge them as rights. Lately, though, that’s gone out the window, and Toronto has gone down the proverbial crapper.
And, yeah, someone there took a shot at our consulate.
A shot was fired at the U.S. Consulate in Toronto Monday and an hour-long high-speed chase ensued, according to FOX News.
The facade of the U.S. Consulate was damaged but no people were harmed.
CBC reported that police are seeking a white Honda Accord that was the subject of the high speed pursuit after the shooting. Police chased the car for a time “before calling off the chase due to safety concerns over its speed, which exceeded 140 km/h.”
Monday’s incident marks the second time this year someone has shot at the U.S. Consulate in Toronto. The first time was March 10, “when two suspects allegedly fired multiple shots at the building before driving away in a stolen vehicle.”
Of course, Canada has very tight controls on guns, including a freeze on handgun transfers that was issued in response to crime in…you guessed it, Toronto.
In fact, I’ve written a lot about the problems in that city, and that’s because it’s the Chicago of the Great White North.
So how has that gun control worked out?
Look, if Toronto gang-bangers want to shoot one another, that’s not our business. That’s Canada, not here. However, shooting at our consulate makes this an international incident. Yes, no one was hurt, thankfully, but if gun control was going to work, then why can’t Toronto police stop people from shooting at American consulates?
Are they begging to be turned into the 51st state? I ask because they should know that, joking aside, none of us want most of the country to be states here. That’s the last thing we need: more anti-gun zealots.
Honestly, between this and the shooting in the streets of Montreal, Canada is really losing its reputation of being a nation of very polite people.
They’re holding onto the “creator of war crimes” title, though, so they’ve got that going for them, I suppose. They just shouldn’t be war-criming in their own country.
In the meantime, I’d really love to see the anti-gunners continue to pretend this is a problem that’s really America’s fault when we know otherwise. They will, of course, but then I’ve got fodder to write about and make fun of the idiotic nonsense they’ll spew, so that’s cool.
Editor’s Note: The radical Left will stop at nothing to enact their radical gun control agenda and strip us of our Second Amendment rights.
