GOP’s Moreno Demands Max Miller Resign as Abuse Claims Rock Ohio Race [WATCH]

Sen. Bernie Moreno, R-Ohio, is calling on U.S. Rep. Max Miller, R-Ohio, to resign from Congress after allegations made by Moreno’s daughter, Emily Moreno, during an ongoing family and custody dispute, as reported by Trending Politics News.

The public statement, released by Moreno on Aug. 2 through X, marks a significant development involving two prominent Ohio Republicans. Miller, who was previously married to Emily Moreno, has denied the allegations and said he intends to remain in the race for reelection.

In his statement, Moreno said his family has faced difficult circumstances since his daughter’s divorce from Miller.

“As a father and husband, I can tell you the last two years have been pure hell for my wife Bridget, our daughter Emily, me, and our entire family in the aftermath of Emily’s divorce. It has been horrific to watch this play out in full public view, all while knowing an innocent two-year-old girl is caught in the middle,” Moreno wrote.

Moreno said he had hoped to keep the matter private but decided to speak publicly because of concerns for his family.

“Our priority has always been protecting our daughter and our granddaughter. Out of concern for the safety of my family, I hoped to keep this matter private, but Max Miller’s increasingly erratic and dangerous behavior has made that impossible. As he has admitted privately, Max Miller needs serious psychological help. He is a danger to my daughter, and I hold my breath every minute he has custody of my granddaughter,” Moreno continued.

The senator also called on Miller to step down from Congress.

“If there are any basic standards of character required to hold elected office, Max Miller fails them. He should not serve in the House of Representatives. I believe Max Miller needs to seek professional help to end the clear pattern of abuse he has left in his wake. I believe he should not be free to continue endangering others until he does. I ran for office because I wanted to make a difference for the country that gave me every opportunity to succeed, and to leave this nation better for my children and grandchildren. That sacrifice has been especially hard on my wife Bridget, whose big heart and steady support have never wavered. I owe it to her, to Emily, and to my granddaughter to speak the truth now.”

Miller and Emily Moreno were married in 2022 before divorcing in 2025. They share a two-year-old daughter and have been involved in a contested custody case since the divorce.

According to court filings referenced in the source material, Emily Moreno alleges that during their marriage, Miller held a gun to her head, pushed her against a wall, struck her head, threw hot water on her, and that their daughter suffered a fractured collarbone. Those allegations have not been adjudicated, and Miller has denied wrongdoing.

Miller has specifically denied causing his daughter’s collarbone injury, stating that the child was no longer in his care when the injury was discovered.

In a livestream lasting approximately 20 minutes after the allegations became public, Miller rejected the accusations.

“I have never abused our daughter,” Miller said.

He also said he “categorically denies” the abuse allegations and argued there is no evidence supporting the claims.

“I’m not getting out of this race, and I’m winning in November,” Miller added during the livestream.

Miller represents Ohio’s 7th Congressional District and previously received an endorsement from President Donald Trump before the allegations became public. The district is expected to remain competitive as candidates campaign ahead of the 2026 midterm elections.

The custody dispute and related allegations continue to unfold, while Miller remains in office and has indicated he intends to continue his reelection campaign.
